JohnLovesHorlicks Report 2 Feb 2013 12:03

Not sure whether I would have liked the actuality of the 18th century as much as today to be honest, Mau.

Quite violent times. John Wesley was preaching in Walsall outside St Matthews and local Anglican supporters tried to kill him. Only because he was very fit and only 5'3" and slight build that he managed to escape with his life.

On the other hand, canals would have been exciting. Coalbrookdale, so many inventions. :-)

ErrolSheep

ErrolSheep Report 2 Feb 2013 20:34

Meaning?
A telephone engineer in the 1700s?

JohnLovesHorlicks

JohnLovesHorlicks Report 2 Feb 2013 20:37

No, Errol. No similarity at all between those two jobs. A witchfinder used to .........

Much more elevated job. I can imagine you would have been excellent :-D

ErrolSheep

ErrolSheep Report 2 Feb 2013 20:40

And there were telephone engineers in the 1700s?

JohnLovesHorlicks

JohnLovesHorlicks Report 2 Feb 2013 20:43

Not sure. I am not an expert. Were there?

When did witchfinders appear? I know very little about him/them. Saw a film once. :-)
