Last year I read "The lost child of Philomena Lee" an absoloutely heartbreaking true story of an unmarried Irish mother who was forced to give her child up for adoption in America and their search for each other. It is now being made into a film "Philomena" starring Judi Dench. It spurred me on to try to find my real father-the book shows how you must search now before it is too late.I urge everyone searching for someone to read the book and look forward to the film. My mother was English my father Irish American-Philomena was Irish and her son was taken away to America-he was born in 1952 the same year as me- and depicts the cruel attitudes of society and the Catholic church at the time-how these women sufferred emotionally.I'm still searching- and hoping (details on my other posts)my mother died of breast cancer many years ago but I feel she never got over being an unmarried mother in a gloucestershire village -I long to find what happened to him as much for her sake as my own- I want to thank everyone on this site who has helped me so far-I have several leads and am still hopeful.I bear him no ill will he was young and it was a very different world then-Pauline
