JP :-D :-D

Probably means that you don't use gerunds and passive and conditional pronouns in your everyday life. But I guess you can still survive :-D ;-)

Justice of Peace Report 5 Feb 2013 09:40

JustJohn Report 5 Feb 2013 08:36

Stephen. Well, I know absolutely everything. And I got 11. I think 11 is best score possible to get. Well done. We have to show a little weakness, otherwise we are condescending :-D

And the auntie of gerund, the Liverpool footballer, is known as Auntie Nim, GB. Simple ;-) Any more questions for the coracle?

GlitterBaby Report 4 Feb 2013 23:19

Did not bother to even attempt it as never heard of antonym, conditional and passive.

When did that lot come into English ?

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 4 Feb 2013 23:02

How many people did not understand the questions, never mind the answers ?

We can't all be cleverer than average. I thought the thread read "How is your grandma?" And I still think gerund is a footballer :-( :-( :-(

Sorry to admit I only scored 7

DazedConfused

DazedConfused Report 4 Feb 2013 20:09

I got 7 - but seriously I did not understand half of the questions and had to guess.

This was far more advanced grammar than I did in school in the 60's.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 4 Feb 2013 17:29

13/14. I got no. 11 wrong which was just carelessness on my part. Not sure how many I would have got right at age 11 though. Although it was a long while ago I did study languages at A Level, including A Level Latin which is a huge help with lots of languages, including English.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 4 Feb 2013 17:15

King Edward VI Ken ?

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 4 Feb 2013 16:51

12/14 ... must do better.

Dare I suppose that schools today still issue a copy of H W Fowler to all students?
If the pounds and pence won't run to H W Fowler I guess Nigel Molesworth is a useful guide to grammar as well:
