Just to give an example of how stupid some of these assessors are my sister and her husband were asked how long their son had had Downs Syndrome.

Now by brother in law is a very mild mannered man and ususually leaves all this q & a stuff to her and his tart reply was since he was conceived!!! And he will not be getting over it for some time.

How crass can some people be

I have just got one for OH from Medway Council and I applied online. I found the form difficult to fill in as it didn't cover OH mobility problems. Was told it was a six week wait . I chased em as the 6 weeks was up and got a frosty jobsworth telling me he had to go in for a medical . I said he wont as he has Alzheimer too and was told he wont get a badge cos he has Alzheimer,s NOOO that wasnt why I was applying its because he has Lewy Body dementia too and has falls he cant go out now on his own.

Ms Frosty then gave me a ticking off cos I didnt make things clear on the form Excuse me i tried to within the way the questions were asked. I said I was trying to be truthful . She then said OK dont think he needs to come in we will issue one but in future make it clear on the form .
Seems to me you have to overemphasize or maybe be untruthful if all they do is to go by what people write down.

Incidentily Piglets Pal Greenwich is our old stamping ground . was born in BHMB at Woolwich and we lived in Charlton near the football ground. OH was a local lad too We moved to Kent in the 1960,s

DLA is bing reviewed under the new PIP regulations this year. I will be reassessed after receiving a lifetime award about 13 years ago.

I fought to get my ESA reinstated as it ran out last April as it was contribution based not income based.

I sent them every piece of medical paperwork I have, letters from consultants, doctors and extracts from my hospital records. After that I made myself a complete pain in the butt by telephoning them every week. Finally I won and receved my ESA. Thankfully I didn't have to go through the appeal process.

They never make it either easy nor straightforward and with the tinkering of the key questions we are all back to stage one.

If I can help with anything please pm me and I'll try and help.

Don't ever give up, that is what they rely on.

Since the changes in the law last September it is now harder than ever to get a Blue Badge

and as for the DLA/Mobility allowance - I am now at the 3rd stage going to appeal as the DWP do not want to help me.

Its odd but it seems that the less you have ever asked for the harder it is made to even get any help. I am retired (took Early Voluntary Redundancy) age 59, so not eligible for pension for at least 7 years. Get no help or claim any benefits, which if I was would make my claim easier. Does not make sense to me.

I had an assessment today with an Occupational Therapist to decide whether or not I qualify for a Blue Badge. Now a 2 week wait

Not holding my breath!!!

Got letter in the post today - have been awarded my Blue Badge yippee

DIZZI - although the DLA and Mobility are awarded together the DWP do their best to keep the secret that you can get one without the other. I have done some extensive research of both DWP site and others and although not easy to do so you can be awarded Mobility without the DLA component. They just do not tell you this so you have to fight.

I have sent in an appeal against the DWP not granting me DLA/Mobility and am more than prepared to go to Tribunal if I have to. They make it so difficult that people just give up. B*ggers....
