It's pretty boring to be honest.

I agree with Rose......the GR staff are missing a trick and losing out on potential new customers and most help is given by members who are active on here.

They seem to be quite a lachrymose team and are constantly asking if we are 'weeping/overcome/emotional' about the latest TV programme they have sponsored. Maybe GR has shares in Kleenex?

I certainly don't think they do enough to promote the Community Boards and the help which is given here.......and yet they are always boasting about the success stories :-S :-S

I look at it from time to time, but I really feel that the GR staff who 'oversee' it are missing a trick. SO many people go on there having seen an ad, or found it through someone else, and just put in a name " McDonald" or " looking for Pete Smith". Some evidently expect ( and it's the same on the Ancestry page) that putting in their OWN name will bring up a fully grown tree.

It is almost always down to other members to suggest joining GR to search. Regulars are brilliant, and are instantly recogniseable as being stalwart helpers here also.

Instruction' on how to join the site and search are on there but if you were new you wouldn't know where to look for them!

Instead of staff putting photo's on and 'today in 1977 Elvis died, what was your fav tune?"....they should imo give a bit more time to promoting GR by directing people to the main site it must have been designed as a marketing tool surely? ( no reason why they can't do both those things ?)

Must admit I find some of the articles, items, piccies etc quite interesting. but most of it can be found via Google, surfing anyway.
I really would like some of the commenter's on the above to be on this Chat board, it would be really interesting. :-D :-D :-D

What do you think of it?... :-S

We all have our own thoughts about Facebook itself, which I incidentally after cracking the security issues find pretty good for communicating with friends and family here and overseas.

But to get back to GR`s page some of the posts are so vague as to be laughable.
I feel if it wasn't for a scant few people giving their help and experience to some of these obviously young, old, and very new seekers of families and friends that are posting on there, the whole page would fall into farce.
