I must be the only person that laughed at Father Ted and the Vicar of Dibley :-D

Do you think he would be up for judging the rapping round Ann? ;-)

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 11 Feb 2013 22:33

no one - but no one - has made fun of the outgoing pope, or any other pope come to that, and I'm quite sure none of us would - and as for my vicar Cynthia, he is never disappointed in me and quite honestly he has a brilliant sense of humour and would just love the thought of a Pope Idol contest - I'll ask him when I see him next, and I will truthfully relay his response to you

I have amended the OP in the vain hope that it will make the latter tone of this thread i.e. funnyish absolutely clear to anyone who chooses to click on it.

What a waste of 10 minutes of my life!

My daughter told me today that she thought that Bono could be in line to take over.
Bono?
Realising her mistake, she immediately corrected herself by saying.
"Oh, he can't be Pope, he hasn't been canonized yet, has he"?

My RC upbringing did not rub off on my offspring!

You may Muffy :-D

I shall make the appropriate noises for sounds effects ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

BTW In no way are we mocking the current Pope FGS.

Cynthia Report 11 Feb 2013 22:17

To whom are you referring Hayley, Sylvia or myself?

I do believe you suggested that one of questions in the pope contest could be.......Can you name Mary's son.......Kevin....wrong ...CABBAGE.

I'm hardly splitting my sides at that quip to be honest.

Maybe I'm forgetting that it's absolutely hilarious to make fun of the situation surrounding a sick old man and who will take over his immensely responsible job.

Blancmange?

Goodness me, why didn't I think of that myself. sheeeeesh must be losing my touch.

Oh yes, I can think of some selection ideas I can share with the group....but they include words like

Respect
Tolerance
Compassion
Patience
Goodwill

On the news it has just said that one of the very few people the Pope confided in was his brother. I do wonder if he has been told some bad health news and has turned to family for support, advice and comfort. Even a Pope needs comfort at times.

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 11 Feb 2013 22:10

Can I play the John Simpson role on the mastermind round?.

I've always wanted to say *i've started so i'll finish* :-D

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 11 Feb 2013 22:09

Oooh yes blancmange and I will referee :-D

As an atheist I am entitled to exercise my right to express an opinion exactly the same as you are on the Christian thread.

There has to be a mastermind game too. First round on papal decrees and the second on their specialist subject, awaits suggestions :-D

but you can't take it, can you?

........care to elaborate? You seem disappointed that no one has argued? I will carry on posting as a paying member as I see fit and within the t and c's of the site...not entering into an argument or a discussion...or making any justification for my sense of humour or posts because i don't need to !!!! lol..

Anyhow.back to the subject in hand..don't want to be going off topic......

FGS here we go, I have a better idea why dont you try reading the posts properly, I have certainly not insulted any old Gentleman, I have made no jokes at the Pope directly or about his retirement and believe there is plently around this evening, I suggested that they use a younger gentleman for the job I see absoloutely nothing wrong with idea. surely even someone under 50 can be wise and intelligent.

FGS why am I even trying to justify myself to the likes of you and this is why religon gets such a trashing from non believe often it is understood that any one that believes loves and trusts in God is a miserable flumpy moaning mare.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 11 Feb 2013 21:52

I've got an idea.

Ann, why don't you print off some recent threads where religion has been 'discussed' and give them to your Rector for his perusal.

He will either come up with some more thoughts

or

he will be bitterly disappointed in you.

Just an idea.
