when I was young I wore some of my mums old 1950's frocks ( she had been much slimmer than me but some fitted) and particularly liked wearing a blue, white and black dress with a little bolero jacket :-)..that's long gone and now if I wear a frock I look like Mrs Brown :-(

Frocks...do you wear them ?

Not for a good few years and even then very rarely. Don't think I own one tbh.

it took me years to use the word dress as opposed to frocks.

I usually wear frocks at weddings christenings and funerals, one can often find me in slacks or jeans. I have been known to wear a skirt or two.

I've never worn frocks, but will defend your right to talk about them :-D

However, I may go 'off topic' occasionally

I have an old black & white photo of my mum and us 4 children. taken in 1958 (I was a baby). I can still remember the white & pink hooped dress, interspersed with flowers that she wore

Yes, going to my grandma's was really great - she used to let me dress up in her old frocks, which just about reached the floor on me, and I'd have one of her handbags and some strange kind of hat on, and must have looked a real fright...loved it, though I was never allowed to wear her shoes because she was always convinced I'd fall over and break my neck if I did :-|

I can honestly say I've never worn a frock ;-)

I love the pencil style frocks and if I wear anything with a highwaist I look like Les Dawson, I am so glad for the maxi's have made a come back as I tend to wear them loads on holidays its the only time I wear frocks now. I have a knee lengh knitted red dress I sometimes wear for work with my thick wooly tights and boots but I have a right derby on me.....

I did wear a frock at my daughter's wedding, a long floral number.
She was with me when I bought it (and a complementing jacket).
I tried it on, came out to show her and she (unused to seeing me in a dress) said - yes it's lovely - you remind me of Mrs Pepperpot!!!!!

So..... on her wedding pics - I'm the one who looks like Mrs Pepperpot!!! Yes, I bought it :-D

Haven't worn a frock since the 70s and even then rarely, a few long flowing Kaftans late 60s early 70s maybe, but with my legs and height without the benefit of 6 inch platforms I would look and feel distinctly uncomfortable :-(

Actually Wend you have just reminded me of something, there used to be a thread on t'other site about wedding dresses some people posts photos of their own and some of GGrandparents, I loved that thread and could look at it for hours and hours over again to see the different styles over the ages. Would be good if we all posted a thread with a rellie our own ( cant havent got one on my PC and havent got a scanner) wedding dresses on it ...

Just looked at daughters wedding pics - I won't be putting a pic of me as Mrs Pepperpot on the thread :-P

I had some lovely frocks in the 50s/60s - Californian Cotton frocks were brill and my Mum made me loads of sack dresses -= took a lot of them on my honeymoon - still have a sack dress I bought in 1958

Hayley, it was blue and mauvey with birds on, that's my mum with me, also in a frock with matching jacket :-)

I have to wear trousers at work.
So frocks/dresses and skirts at all other times.
Trousers do not move.
They are boring.
Skirts and dresses do (move).
