Happy to nudge this for you Elizabeth.

My husband has Parkinson's and, like Shirley's husband we were hoping to go to church tonight but, because of the weather, we won't be able to go. :-(

The last thing we need is him to fall over.........

Never mind, he has special readings and prayers he will look at and we hope to be able to make it to church on Sunday.

Thank you Elizabeth.

As you may know my OH has now some dementia problems. He is still though a practicing Catholic and i take him to Church every Sunday. dropping him off outside and then picking him up later. i am not catholic. He was full of it being Ash Wednseday this week and how he would like to be able to go to Church but didnt feel he could make it.

I have printed off your OP and given it to him and he was so pleased

Thank you once again. You always have such comforting words

Elizabeth. What lovely prayers. So simple and yet we all are (or know) a young or old person who needs our prayers :-) :-)

Dear All

Hello

On Ash Wednesday, churches hold services during which Christians are marked on the forehead with a cross of ashes. This is a sign of penitence and
a reminder of mortality.

The ashes come from burning the palm crosses from Palm Sunday of the previous year.

Lent is a time of preparation for Easter, ending in Holy Week.

During the 40 days of Lent, Christians remember the time when Jesus went into the desert to fast and pray before beginning his work for God.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two prayers for two people of different ages
but one thing in common; loneliness.

"I am an old person.

It's not being old that I mind so much,

it's being ignored and made to feel I do not matter any more.

I spend so much time on my own these days.

I feel trapped in my house and few people visit me now.

My friends have all gone and my family live so far away.

I just want to talk about how life used to be.

If you can, please pray for me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I am a young person.

I am told that I have everything too easy today,

not like when they were young.

I know drugs are bad news;

that I need to work hard, for my future depends on it.

But you do not know the pressures inside,

at home and with my friends.

There is no one to talk to, no one I feel I can trust.

I want to know what life really means.

If you can, please pray for me".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whatever the season of Lent means to you and whether you are religious or not, may you have contentment and peace.

Take gentle care
Very best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS
