Yesterday my son told me that my nephew's partner had given birth to their baby, a little boy called Jenson. He'd seen it on facebook I think. My brother seems to have fallen out with me and our other brother so we didn't know there was a baby on the way altho it wasn't a surprise as I had heard my nephew had a new partner who was desperate to have children - she is nearly 40 and my nephew is the same age as my son, 30. My son then remembered to tell me that one of his half Maltese cousins who lives in Essex had also had another baby, she has a 13 yr old daughter and a two and a half yr old daughter. My son couldn't remember what the baby was so I phoned the family and got the new Daddy who is pleased as punch with his surprise son, called Sonny - what else lol? He was surprised we hadn't known they were expecting again, but I haven't been in touch much lately with my son's aunt and uncle so they probably hadn't realised we didn't know. Seems another cousin in that family also had a second baby last year, again a little boy, Isaac, to join her Adam.
My o.h.'s son and wife in Ipswich are expecting a baby boy at the end of March, is it to be a season of lads or will things change soon and girls turn up?

Late last night I read the online local newspaper and as always, checked the Death columns. I was very sad to read of the passing of an ex neighbour, Doris, a lovely lady I had stayed in touch with by occasional phone calls till she became too deaf to manage on the phone, and with birthday and Christmas cards. She was 98, bless her and moved to live in a little bungalow near her daughter and granddaughter.

O.h.'s brother in law lost his Mum just before we went away so now it's two funerals to attend later this month but all those births to celebrate. The balance of life and death goes on apace.

Rest in peace dear Doris and Mrs F. and live well and happily little fellas.

Found out yesterday that my little great nephew was born on the morning of the anniversary of my daughter's death. I assumed when my son told me the news initially that it had been the following weekend, but Jenson arrived on the 3rd February. I am feeling a little upset by the coincidence. I don't suppose my brother remembers or will connect the dates, altho he was with me when we arranged my daughter's burial.

Wonder if Jenson will get called Sonny as well, wouldn't that be a coincidence? Hope he doesn't get called Jenny at school. He weighed 7 lb 11 oz at birth, there is a pic on fb of my nephew feeding him with a bottle at the hospital and lots of pics with my stepniece (nephew's half sister) and her two little girls and the baby, he looks as if he has ginger hair and there is a gingerhaired lady holding him in one picture who may be nephew's partner's sister, the partner has artificially blonde hair but maybe she is a red head too. Have never met her, seems no time at all since I met the previous fiancee but this side of the family seem to have isolated themselves from me and my other brother for some reason so might never meet her. Funny people, families eh?
