Ann your grandmother sounds very interesting to research, my friend asked me to help with her FH a few years ago and her GGrandmother sounds just like yours and I adored researching her I would of loved to have met her. :-D

My fathers mother died in childbirth and his father died when he was thirteen years old, I have never seen a photograph of them. I just can not believe that this OP was RRd, what on earth is going on? I hope it is reinstated., I enjoyed reading other members comments and looked forward to watching this thread develop.

Missed this thread but guess it was about photos of grandparents?

I'm very fortunate in that I have quite a lot of photographs of both sets of grandparents for which I am really grateful.

A few weeks ago, I decided to pm all my contacts who had a certain family name in their trees, asking if they had any photographs they would be willing to share.

Some didn't but one came up with photos of my GREAT grandfather which she emailed to me. Absolutely brilliant and I was so pleased.

She also emailed me a photo of my paternal grandma's sister who was, to put it politely, ....er....of a rather unprepossessing appearance. She had 1 illegitimate child, 12 legitimate and two husbands....... :-S

Ah well, it takes all sorts I 'spose. :-D

I have changed my avatar to a photo of my two grandmothers having a giggle. It has only recently come to light and I think it's brilliant. It was probably taken in the late '30's early '40's.

:-D :-D

Good to see that your OP is back.

My Grandmother Martha died of TB when Mum was 3, it was not until she was in her 70's that a relative of her mother's found a photo of a young Martha. It was treasured by my Mum.

the minute you report a post Paula it disappears instantly

Thank you Ann. That does not seem very democratic to me. :-S

Kense

Kense Report 14 Feb 2013 16:51

It may not seem democratic Paula, but if someone posted personal or defamatory things about you, you would want it removed immediately and not have to wait for a majority to agree to its removal.

PollyinBrum

PollyinBrum Report 14 Feb 2013 17:00

KenSE, I can understand that and agree that these personal comments should be removed. However some of the RRs have not been personal or defamatory just someone wanting to control the threads. If the person RRing is really so upset, shocked or annoyed they should be honest enough to say what they intend to do, it seems rather cowardly to me to do this anonymously. I really don't know the answer but it certainly seems to cause ructions on here

Cynthia Report 14 Feb 2013 17:29

It's often been said that anyone who reports a posting should have the courage to say WHY they did so.

I admire those who have strong enough to say that something has offended their sensibilities but, unfortunately, there are so many reports these days, that it looks as though there is a mischief maker around. A mischief maker without a backbone.

Exactly what pleasure they get out of it is beyond many of us - unless they just like causing trouble of course.

There are some postings which occasionally make my RR finger itch, but I haven't given in to the temptation for over 3 years :-D

It seems pretty obvious to me that the OP was reported, not because of the content but because of "who" posted it. :-|
And I dont believe I am the only one that suspects this is the case also. ;-)
