I was lucky to have know both sets of grandparents. They were born 1913 to 1994, 1916 to 2001, 1915 to 1982 and 1918 to 1992......
I was born in 1966 and my gt grandmother saw me 8 times before she died in 1967..The only gt grandparent alive when I was born

The oldest paternal grandfather so far would be 100 years older than yours!!!

I haven't a hope in hell of winning a prize for oldest Grandfather.

My G/G/Grandfather was only born in 1937.

Maternal grandfatther born 1877 died 1961 so I do remember him. His 1st wife, my maternal grandmother died in 1928 of TB. No chance of having met her! His 2nd wife who helped raise my mother was born 1877 as well, and out lived him by 2 years

My paternal grandparents were born in 1890 and 1892 - mere whipper-snappers and still quite active when I knew them.

WOW like WOW! In my family the generations are closer nit. my Mum was 20 when I was born n I was like number 4 and her mother was 30 when she was born making her 50 years older than me and in turn her mother was 24 when she was born her father was born the same year in 1896 and I remember them both. Gramps mother had only just left the scene before I was born she was 98 so born in 1872 and her parents were born in 1851 so in order to get bk to 1850's I need to get bk 6 gens so this thread is absolutly fascinating me x

My paternal grandfather was born Greenwich, 1858, my father Greenwich, 1903, and me - Greenwich - of course! 1945.

My perernal grandparents both born 1877
grandfather died in 1935 &grandmother died in 1951
never knew either of them.

My maternal grandparents.
grandfather was born 1867
grandmother was born 1870
and again i never knew them . :-( :-(

when my son was born in 1967 his paternal Gt Grandmother was 97 years old

Oops just realised it was for grandparents!!!!

My granddad was born in 1897 do not know about the other one.

My gt/gran who died when I was 6 was born in 1875 - and I remember visiting her when I was a child.

My nan had one of those scarf/collar furs, her's was a fox and it fastened by hooking the tail to under the neck so it looked like it was just curled around her neck.. The eyes were quite scary.

My paternal grandfather was born 1854 and grandmother in 1875....big difference in ages.

My paternal grandparents were born 1876 and 1877.
My maternal grandparents were born 1890 and 1891
sadly only knew one of them.

My maternal grandfather was born in 1875 and his wife 2 years later in 1877. They both lived into the 1960s and my memories in clude the waistcoat and pocket watch and chain too with grandma wearing a furry animal skin around her neck when she went out.......scared me to death as a little girl.

John My Dad was born 1888..he was nearly 60 when Mum had me..
He said years later to me think I was about 14/15 as I asked him how old he was when I was born..

I was surprised when Katherine Jenkins was looking at her family history recently. Her father was born 1927 or 1924. A generation older than her mother. :-)

Grandfather of this elderly man (must have seen it in Mirror on Friday) could have fought at Trafalgar!!!!

My paternal grandfathers were born in 1880 and 1883.
For one of them THEIR grandfather was born in 1785 - and lived to 90.

I go clubbing and play squash twice a week. When people learn that my GF flught a Mons August 1914 they look a bit blank. Heh heh.
