I think that's the thing these days Maggie, so many extended families now with divorces so common. My son's ex gf's little boy (he's now 12!) has two sets of grandparents/step grandparents on each side and great grandparents as well.

My o.h.'s son's little girl (and the little boy to come soon) have two sets of grandparents/stepgrandparents on each side too altho I am not married to o.h. and his ex isn't married to her new partner, the son and d.i.l. called us Nannie and Granddad as well as the blood grandparents. There are two lots of greatgrandparents there as well. It's complicated for little ones to work it all out as they grow up but it means extra love from everyone.

Lynn, It's very sad for you all that your daughter won't communicate. I have no idea why my brother has become so odd, we did get Christmas cards but my brother's wife sends them. I have bumped into them when out and my brother barely bothered to speak altho his wife did. Can't stand her but have never been rude to her so not sure what the problem is. Nowt as queer as folk eh?

Hope you see Casper very soon

take care

Congratulation Linda - and Casper's parents :-D

I love the confusion grandparents can cause, especially when they've divorced & re-married!!.
My gran was granny, mum was nana, I was granny meow, other gran was nanny Net other gran was nan Jack. Not sure how the males have worked things out. My ex is Pops, but there are 2 others, I think they're gramps and grumps..
My sister is caled grandma by her grandchldren.
When we went on an extended family holiday (that's extended family, not extended holiday), to make things easier, my grandchildren called my sister Grandma, (rather than g aunt A)her grandchildren called me granny (rather than great aunt M).

Hi Liz, we to have had our falling out in the family, my eldest daughter does not want to me her to sisters or her nan who was very good to her when I was going through a bad time and again when my daughter had her own children and wanted to go back out to work both my mother and myself looked after the grandchildren but I'm more upset for my mum who is 90.

Stick Nanny came about my eldest grandaughter used to get mixed up between me (nanna) and my mum (nanny) so as my mum used a stick at the time she became knoewn has stick nanny, even grown ups call her by that name.

Bless him, he's a big lad already Linda. Congratulations. How lucky you are to have all those grandchildren, I fear I will have to wait a while yet altho o.h.'s son and his wife call me Nannie to their daughter and there will be a new baby next month, a little boy, as well. I am now an official Great Aunt as my nephew and his partner had a baby boy at the beginning of the month, on the anniversary of my daughter's death. My step niece has two little girls but I don't see them much and probably won't see my gt nephew unless I bump into them when out, they haven't let me know officially and my brother seems to have fallen out with me and our other brother so we aren't in touch now. Seems to be a lot of boys being born at the mo but a girl I know, who used to be on these boards, is in hospital with the possibility of her little girl being born prematurely so hoping things go ok with her.

I bet you can't wait to meet young Casper as soon as you are well enough, Linda.

Btw what's a stick nanny?
