I am now at a total loss and my gran has alzheimers so there is no chance of getting any info from her.

Thank You +++DetEcTive+++

I have just gone through all the records and there is not one relating to the family. I have just spoken to my mum and she said that they definately went to live in Austrailia as she can remember my grandmother telling them about it as a child.

I do no that there had been a big family fall out between George and his mother over the women he married. I am no at a total loss as where to go from here :( but its just how it goes I suppose, when the only person who could tell me about her brother now has no recollection of anything in her life anymore quiet sad really.

But Thank You for taking the time to reply to my posting.

If your gran is still able to talk, have another chat and listen carefully to what she says - there may be a grain of truth buried somewhere in there. The past is often more real than the present. :-0

Australia has tighter data protection rules than the UK, so it would be rather difficult to even find a marriage for Linda or her step sister.

Hang in there - someone from/with Australian research knowledge might come up with an idea.

The Australian Archives does have an 'Ask a Librarian' service. You could email them and see if they can find in-coming records not yet on the internet?

Thank you ever so much, doing my mums side of the family is becoming very hard as there is only my gran left as far as we no which is quiet sad and we dont no any of the family from my grandads side of the family as he didn't have anything to do with them. I would just like to be able to piece it all together and have a better picture of our family if that makes sense and without the help of people like you this would not be possible. I will get my mum to see if she can find anything out from my gran but she is now in then latter stages of alzhimers so its touch and go i am affraid.

Tracy, why don't you post some details on the "Find Ancestors" board. Lots of people ready and willing to help. Post everything that you know.

My sister and her family went to Australia in the late 1960s and I found there immigiration record somewhere - unfortuneatly I don't seem to have made a note of where - will try to find it.
