I have just paid a tenner for another sack of old ones from the farm gate. Twice the price of last year and twice as scabby.

It is surprising how many of them have got like a little bum.Have never seen that before.

Once you have taken out all the scabby holey bits they still taste pretty damned fine!

I love potatoes, especially jacket ones and plain boiled new ones. So many come with lots of scabby bits on now but I got some good ones from Morrisons last week that were really clean and tasted good. They are Maris Peer from Suffolk so didn't have to travel far!

My grandfather ate his potatoes with butter & dry oatmeal, and lots of salt!

I loved my Papa, and tried to copy him, even though the oatmeal was so dry it stuck in my throat!

He died when I was 5, and I haven't eaten oatmeal with potatoes since!

I like all potatoes - fresh new ones, roasties, chips and buttery mash. But, we tend to eat rice, pasta and crusty bread probably more often.

I've just had some really lovely new potatoes :-) The best I've had in a year... from Scotland ( via the Co op) :-D

Is there anything better than new potatoes with butter?
