When I see someone has posted, I usually have a very good idea about what that poster will write. Most times I am not disappointed.

Many write very lovely posts which I enjoy reading always.

Some automatically copy and paste then "have a go"

Others name call

Others agree with their friends

Some are experts on certain subjects and no one else can underand that subject like they do.

But all in all I enjoy Genes Chat :-)

How patronising and condescending.

Well that's described me then, what about the rest of the board's posters?

PS. You left off the bit about 'Always giving good advice...which people are foolish enough to ignore' !

I used to enjoy Genes chat...even at the worst times. But it is now a mine field which I look at, but choose not to venture onto, more often than not :-(

Never have I gone so long without making posts on here. I too used to enjoy the Chat board, and like many others, relied upon it.
That simple enjoyment has been taken away from me.

Have you noticed we have followed the fourth commandment - "Others agree with their friends". Oooops :-D

Sometimes I “walk into” some threads and quite honestly I do not have the desire to comment., not that I feel I have nothing to say, more that I just can not be bothered to join in
the squabble and unpleasantness. If I was in a pub or social gathering where the same sort of behaviour or bad manners was being displayed I would leave. From what I have gathered I don’t think this is just my observations.

Sue, one good thing I have noticed is that people who don't normally get on have found a unity of sorts in the last few months.

Every cloud .....

I wish I enjoyed Genes Chat as much as you do John. Sadly, I don't these days :-(

Why is this thread called "Selective Reading"?

Am I missing something?

Errol. Selective reading is what many of us do - me included. If someone calls me patronising or other names, I take absolutely no notice as I just know it is wrong.

So if a poster wants to tackle me instead of a thread, I just tend to ignore and skip over. If they have the time and inclination to write stuff like that, it is hardly going to hurt me, is it?

Edit. You have just proved you selectivley read on another thread. The OP posted a lovely Cathoilic prayer. I posted another Catholic prayer (by a Cardinal who was trained as an Anglican). Both very relevant to thread imho. Which prayer did you choose to criticise? May be helpful to somebody else - don't knock it.

John - taking no notice is not selective reading. Selective reading is deciding whether to read something or not.
In your original post you said "When I see someone has posted, I usually have a very good idea about what that poster will write. Most times I am not disappointed."
That isn't selective reading because you are obviously reading everything in order to form your opinions as stated above.

John - unlike this, that is an informed debate with many intelligent responses. I don't understand why you even need to refer to it on this thread.

Island Report 27 Feb 2013 12:59

Instead of taking the bait why not join in on other threads and make this board a happy one again?
I have never seen so much attention given to one member.

ChrisofWessex Report 27 Feb 2013 13:15

Being a member since 2003, I have never, in all that time, known any member to dominate threads and upset members until the past few months.
