Thank you all for your suggestions please keep 'em coming.

My mouth is watering already, Don't quite know where to fit in the cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks , with the cheese board at the end I guess ;-)

Didn't we all drink Harp lager then as well? It was the era of the Hoffmeister bear too.

Some ideas from a 1976 Marks & Spencer Cook Book which someone gave me as a wedding present and was never used !

Starters – Vol au vents, Cheese straws, stuffed tomatoes, Spiced grapefruit, Farmhouse pate, Kipper pate, avocado with prawns.

Mains – Paella, Boeuf bourguignon, Beef Stroganoff, Kebabs , Goulash, devilled kidneys

Desserts –Lemon Meringue pie, Jam Roly poly, creme caramel, pear in red wine

And definitely blue nun to drink
:-D

I remember cooking Carbonnade od Beef for a dinner party in 1975. It was beef cooked in beer, with a topping of French bread coated with Dijon mustard. I was complemented on the tenderness of the meat, then I realised they had only helped themselves to the bread topping, not the beef! :-D
