This brought tears to my eyes. Two weeks ago my beautiful Jet a Cocker Spaniel, had a stroke, we rushed to the Vet who was fantastic and spent a long time with Jet, and us. Jet now has three Meds every day and two at night. He has perked up and is back to being the Boss to Joe.
So far so good! OH said he was mortified, he was never allowed pets until we married and he had not realised just how attached we had become with our lovely dogs.

Both of my dogs run up and down our house which is on three levels and in the centre of the garden. They do sleep quite a lot, generally eat well and play with each other.

So to everyone with pets, enjoy them and you will be rewarded beyond belief.

Hope that all your pets are with you for a long time

Bridget. :-) <3 :-) <3

Carol. Am so sorry. When you wrote about Molly not nudging your leg it really upset me.

I still see and hear little Amber (a lovely tortie cat who died of mouth cancer aged 12 about 2 years ago) tripping down our stairs to have her supper before bed.

Some pets we never ever forget, do we? :-D Their smell, their cry, their bark, their little idiosyncracies, their love. :-D

Our dog Ella will be 16 later this month. Still very lively although her hearing and sight aren't very good but still up for two walks every day.

We had a dog who had a stroke. I found him struggling to get off his bed early 1 morning. He had to be put to sleep. My daughter was with me at the time but I had to phone our son working in Northumberland to tell him. It was so hard.

Waited for my husband to phone that night as he was working in Kent. He was staying at a hotel with 2 work colleagues who were friends and knew our dog. OH ordered his meal than phoned me, I had to tell him about the dog. I heard the sniffs as he cut short the phone call. He went back to his table and told the others, all 3 sat there with tears rolling down their faces.

They give you joy and love and then break your hearts . Then we do it all again because of the wonderful memories they leave us. <3

Thinking of you Carol, it'll be a difficult day I know just remember the joy she gave you. <3

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thinking back now , it's strange but the 2 dogs (not one as I said before)I had to make the decision on were rescue dogs.
I chose to have /save them and I had to chose for them to leave me / us.

First one turned on my dad and bit him, two occasions.. first time dad didn't tell me.
But I found out about the second time and had to put dad's health first.:(
He was living with dad and mum when I left home and married,he would only have been about 7 I guess.

Second one, Sandy was a complete darling ,vet thought he was about 18months when I had him for dad,so he would have been over 18 when we had to let him go.
When dad couldn't walk him his normal 3 times a day he came to live with us,tho I used to take him to dad's every week for his 'revisit '. He was happy to stay at dad's or mine..he knew he was loved which ever house !
He was the only dog my children had and they both still have photos of him on their phones and PCs.

Your Molly won't be forgotten <3
Take care Carol<3
