Terry I have to agree , Percy Sledge looked like he took a wrong turning out of Butlins, he reminded me of a gospel preacher from a cheap 1980s film, and he didnt sound that clever either :-D

If you noticed some of them like James Brown RIP and like AL Green they dont hit the notes anymore their backing singers do.

her hair woudn't have moved in a gale
her version of " whats it gonna be" got a lot of plays on the northern soul scene back in the day
loved the soul on the bbc afterwards although some of the acts were a bit passed their sell by date
prison and religion have killed al greens voice

great progamme. brought back happy memories. i used to do the eye make up, backcombed my hair. my sis used to iron my fringe for me, to get it straight like hers. max factor mascara was then a block, it came with a small brush you dipped in a bit of water. happy days...

I agree Dusty was the one really that brought Motown to the UK, they had a few promotion tours over here and did nothing, Dusty went over and toured the USA and fell in love with Atlantic Soul and Tamla Motown she heavily promoted it on her Shows thankfully the UK then took notice ...well done Dusty I have that song "stay a while " in my head all day :-D :-D

I think most of her outfits were Hayley but she had her own style and was fabulous. When she was first out she sounded more like a black singer,so different to Lulu and Sandy Shaw
