Sometimes we don't always tell the people we love how we truly feel, he was just saying what was in his heart. Treasure the memories. <3

What a lovely thing for him to say.
All the more special because it was so unexpected.
One to treasure that's for sure.

We are.

Its not a nice thought tho to have to think that our natural life span is on the horizon. I really want to think he will be OK with family around him rather than me leaving him to not knowing who he is and where he is and worryng where he is and where am I

it's an awful thought - to lose them that is - I lost my OH just over ten years ago - far too young [from an untreatable incurable rare lung condition] - I would have hated for him to be left alone as I am cos I think I can cope better than he would have - sounds daft I know, but you know where I;m coming from on that I'm sure

Thanks Ann I am taking things as they come at the moment ,dont want to anticipate what may be ahead .

He has been prescribed the new meds that slows down the brain cell loss . he has patches cos he had stomach problems as a child.

Folks he hasn't seen for a time think he has improved, the meds can alter the brain cell loss. His walking is better he doesn't shuffle picks his feet up more although still slow.

He has given up driving so its good I drive so have picked that up too. Was a bit of a wake up call cos he would drive everywhere. I still had my license altho I gave my car to our daughter after I retired cos no need for two cars with the expense of both of em.

We are doing OK

how lovely - my friend's husband had Alzheimers and had actually attacked her on one occasion - she kept him home far longer than she should have - after one of these attacks - something he would never ever have done if he was well, he said "Are you alright?"

It's a wicked condition and so hard for the extended family too

I trust you will have plenty of help over the coming months <3

Yes it was unexpected . I do know we are each others best mate but he is a very private person who keeps his emotions under wraps

He was never self confident with his looks and was very envious of his younger brothers success with the ladies.

Well to me I liked his brother but he wasnt my type whereas my OH was . he was shy but a nice guy who didnt have a love em and leave em attitude

He has told me after he did his national service he came out and thought he needed to find a girl and settle down.He did ask a neighbours daughter on a date and thought things were going OK till she dumped him , he was a bit put out and needed to recoup himself before trying again. I was the trying again !!

Well we are 55 plus years married and still love each other no matter what

We were at dinner and having a sort of conversation, Some of you may remember he has early Alzheimer which affects his memory for words . he isnt doo dally dont want to imply he is worse than he is . he suddenly came out with you know I love you loads, you are my girl and my best pal . Took me by surprise and bought tears to my eyes . i had to stand up and go round to him and give him a big hug and a kiss, saying as i did you silly sod I love you too .

still emotional as I post this :-) <3
