That case you refer to is terrible, unfortunately this governments ideology seems to say that anyone who is not working, anyone who receives any kind of benefits, anyone who lives in social housing, for whatever reason, are all at it and have to be punished. |

government are saying that in the case of disabled people they can claim discrectionery housing benefit off the council. |

Couple on tv couple of days ago. She has a brain tumour, has to use an electric hospital bed, lots of medical equipment about, so room crammed. OH is fulltime carer, she cannnot even feed herself. |

I think this is going to cost a lot more than it will save, if people are able to find smaller accommodation in the private sector, and I repeat if, their rent will be probably be more than what their rent is now, demand pushes up prices, so their housing benefit will need to be increased - yet another half baked, hair-brained, ill thought out scheme. |

Good for you Jude. The most ill thought out idea for saving a bit of money I have ever heard of. Its not about saving space at all. At the very least, they could allow peiople to find a place to downsize to before reducing their benefit. Not that I think that people should downsize anyway. I feel there will be civil unrest because of this. We all know who are going to fill the 'freed-up' spaces and whilst I have no objections to other members of the European community being housed, its hardly fair to disrupt peoples lives who have lived in this country and their homes for many years. Disgusted Cambridgeshire. |
