Dear All

Hello

Today is St Piran's Day.

Piran is regarded as the patron saint of Cornwall and tin miners.

He was born in Ireland.

One legend says that the inspiration for the Cornish flag came from Piran discovering the process for smelting tin.

Many regional festivals and customs which make the UK so diverse are disappearing as the folklore behind them are not handed down from
one generation to the next.

Also, with the loss of traditional industries in many areas, a whole way of living
and working has been lost.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth

Thank you for the info, Elizabeth.
My dad's side were Cornish Tin miners and Bal maidens (female tin miners) for generations.
