to help prevent spamming, or emails being sent to all your contacts due to a virus ............................

make the first entry in your email address book ....................

[email protected]

if a hacker breaks in, or you get a virus, it sends out emails starting at the beginning ........ it meets that one, and the email will not go ............... so the virus cannot move onto the next address in line

Neat, and easy to do

I was given that tip way way back in 2003 ............................

Errol

why do you ALWAYS know better than anyone else?????????

All I know is that I have not been informed by anyone that they have received spam email from my address ...................... and I most certainly do not think that I have been lucky enough not to have been sent a virus

The only other thing I do, is never open an email that I do not recognise it, nor do I click on a link in an email.

I beg your pardon?

I tried to give advice and if for some strange or personal reason you don't like it then your problem - certainly not mine

When it comes to anything about computers or the internet, I would trust Errol's advice over anyone else on this site. :-D

I have had many yahoo emails, subject line :RE ?????? they are spam and offer a link to be clicked on.....
usually something like a "villain" lives near you, click here to find out who, or some one has made allegations.......click here to find out what.......and so on

.....I dont, I just delete em, but the genuine users' address Has been compromised, and is thus suspect.......Never click on a link that you dont know is genuine

Errol its like the rabbi that had been praying at the wailing wall for years, a tourist asked him why, and he said I wish for peace all over the world , the tourist said "does it have results, do you think"...... No Good lady he says Its just like banging your head against a wall

Thank you for that Guinevere - maybe SylviaInCanada would like to apologise now.

Carol thank you, too.

And Bobtanian - I have a permanent bruise on my forehead.

As to why the thread has been reported - I am at a total loss. What on earth could be deemed offensive, in breach of conditions etc?

Errol better than anyone else?! bit of a sweeping statement and so untrue - with regard to computer matters, and speaking as a computer dimwit, I have always found Errol to be helpful in the extreme

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 17 Mar 2013 12:06

Carol was speaking of computer matters, AnnC. Yes, I am impressed by Errol - much as I hate to admit it.

I was hacked last week. Letters sent out to all my address list. Got about 30 Daemon Mailer (or is it Mailer Daemon) letters saying email was no longer valid. Also emails from folk I had not written to for ages.

Told them all I had been hacked and not to open attachment. But have now got to write again and tell them I was spammed :-( :-( What a palaver!!! What a kerfuffle.

Sue, Yes their is a club for members who have been RR'd but as membership has now got out of hand due to prolific RRing i'm not sure a single RR would quality you as a member any more due to the overcrowding and shortage of cushions on the naughty step

Roy :-D

With all this talk or viruses etc., even though I have a good security system up & running, I have run my C Cleaner etc just in case.

Belt & braces me :-D :-D :-D can never be too careful ;-)

I use Google, most of my 'spam' is filtered out before it gets to my emails, but a few do get through these are reported then deleted.
