Thank you all for your responses. International Women's Day; is a day to honour women, to celebrate their success and raise awareness about the unique obstacles that women and girls face around the world. Across the United Kingdom and throughout the world, we have seen remarkable progress as women rise to the top of public and private organisations, and make significant strides as producers, consumers, and entrepreneurs. Yet despite this amazing transformation, we must not forget that there is still much work to be done. We must continue to work together to build momentum. Women are an incredible force, and harnessing their full economic and social potential is critical to making our world one in which we are all equals. |

It's criminal that even now women are not equal to men in many countries and many ways. So many women are put upon and disrespected and I wonder how many more years it will take for things to really change. It sickens and saddens me to see the way women are treated in countries like India and Africa etc and I am glad there is more publicity given to such things as child brides and such, so that young women aren't suddenly taken from all they know in England for example and sent away to be married off to men who are not familiar with the English way these girls have known. Their education is suddenly stopped and they are headed for a life of slavery almost and childbearing with the man's family being in control, often left to live in a to them strange country. I don't know how their parents can do it to them. |
