Does anyone click on 'my tree' and get the following advert ''4 coupons @ deals! get 10% off at Genes!!! I click the 'x' in the corner the advert then goes into a small box which has CB on it. This box then sits in the right hand corner! I am unable to gain access to 'My tree' and I am convinced this advert is blocking the way!!! Genes have been told about the problem last wednesday still working on it. I am on a PC with windows 7, I can gain access to my tree on my husbands laptop as no advert appears.
When fully open the advert does say to 'deactivate' tick the box, have done but nothing happens.
I am also having problems with the tabs, community, search ect. and have to go in and out of the site a few times before they will open!! Have other people the same problem. Regards Sandra

Sounds very suspicious to me, I have checked my tree, no advert appears. Have you checked that it is not malware or a virus - just a thought.

Just accessed my tree with no problems, I am on pc with Firefox and Windows 7. Firefox runs adblock. Don't know if this helps.

You have somehow got advertising malware installed. It is not Genes RU problem but yours. Very often it comes from installing "free" software.

Getting rid of this stuff can be a royal pain in the but.
It is easier when you know which one you have got a dose from.
Assuming you are using InternetExplorer ( which is more prone to this kind of problem) go into Options and disable any and all toolbars except Microsoft's. Reboot and try again. If GRU is ok then the toolbar id will give you an idea of the culprit.

Unfortunately very often once one browser has this stuff all the others catch it too. Sometimes tho' a different browser will help.

Go here for a very useful site which will help non-technical people to sort out this kind of thing:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

good luck

OFITG is correct in saying that MS Security is an excellent anti-virus program but it is flat in effective at dealing with malware/adware.

WARNING !!!!!

The popular ani-adware program LAVASOFT has a nasty adware program bundled with it. Why? Lavasoft were taken over ( legally ) by one of the top spamming companies. Dearie me.
