Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 11 Mar 2013 22:47

I got up around 6.30 and it had been snowing ,Thought OH NO as we had two medical appointments today. Did manage to get to the dentist at 10.30 cos the snow although settled had also melted off the roads. Was a bit dicky though getting the car out the garage cos it was suddenly like snow hailstones and was icy patches. Did get the awful denture looked at and adjusted again .its a bit better although seems to stiil give me a sore patch once it settles in.

We had our annual MOT appointment at the docs for 4.20pm but the snow just didnt stop long enough so I cancelled . OH is so dicky on his feet wasnt worth the worry he may fall . have remade the appointment for Friday.

I hate snow . Am not that used to driving in icy conditions yet but as the only driver now I need to be safe.

poor you - we've had snow on and off all day but nothing much to speak of - very cold though with a bitter easterly wind

Hope you are all OK and safe today.

The roads near here are horrendous. Earlier there was warning of partial block on M20 beteen Hythe and Folkestone ( Channel Tunnel turn off is along that bit) but latest was that coast-bound there are queues now back to Ashford.

A259 has blocks in places and after long waits OH and daughter have returned home as no buses were running.

So many schools closed, including some that always manage to usually keep open.

We not too bad here in Rainham Grandson though was 7 hrs on the A2 yesterday trying to get back from Favesham to his depot at Canterbury he is a lorry driver he then had to get home to River from there. daughter works in Dover but lives nr Folkestone and it took her 5 hrs too to get home . Her lad who comes home by school bus only just got in just before her from Dover . daughter leaves work at 4pm .

Shirley I'm glad to know they eventually arrived home safely. It must have been awful for them.

5 hours Dover to Folkestone is horrendous.

Roads are worse than I've known them for many, many years and many abandoned cars blocking parts of the motorway too..

It's sunny with blue skies, but bitterly cold, here on the coast of East Kent. Few flurries of snow yesterday, but did not lay.

Son stuck on the mainland, as he can't get back to Jersey (airport closed for the second day) after his trip over at the weekend.
