OH was at home yesterday when the telephone rang.It was the eye clinic for Fred.

OH thought I just put things on the calendar. Now he knows otherwise.

An appointment for Tuesday morning means,

Make sureit is not too early because that is the day he has his shower.
Confirm the time with the clinic.
Call the hospital transport. This can sometimes take up to an hour because there are queues to join, sometimes up to fifteen. If you ring off you take the chance of joining a longer queue later.

Waiting patiently, then confirming elegability, confirming address which is peculiar and must always be spelled out, confirm his date of birth and his use of a wheelchair, never forgetting to book a place for his escort.

Ring care company to make sure his morning call will be early enough for him to have his shower before he goes. Then negotiate his midday call because this is when he uses the commode and it is important to keep the routine in his situation.I will have to ring them when he comes home we have decided.

Ring his mate to be sure he will accompany him. His mate lives right by the hospital but he must travel both ways so we need to be sure he will be here in time .Maybe I will have to drive up and get him that morning which is a big difficulty.Something like a dozen villages cross the by-pass to get into town in the morning. I will need to allow something like an hour.

Tell Fred and decipher what he was asking me.

Oh yes,put it on the calendar!

It's good that he saw all the work you need to do to organise one appointment, Sharron, should the need ever arise he will be aware it's more than just writing on the calendar and also he will not be able to say, what do you do all day?

Hope all goes to plan
