I'm on my own. Single parent (roaming husband), needed money more than pension then.
Mind you - looking back at earnings - how come, 11 years ago I was earning less, and taking home more?
At the moment am earning - in 10 years time will I be paying bedroom tax.
How dare I be living in a house, paying enough rent over (by then 30 years) to have bought the place and have a spare bedroom? Of course, being a council tenant it's not a home, it's a house, and I should f&*(((* off to a one bedroom flat.
What do I want with a spare room for people to stay?
My children, bought up on a council estate must be scum/wastrels/thugs. Grandchildren must be thick as 2 short planks - the eldest (11 next month) has been going to gifted/talented classes since she was 8
The fact that one daughter has a degree (as have I, as a mature student) and the other is training to be a midwife and runs breast feeding classes is forgotten by the Daily mail /government
Why do I want/need pets? They're probably nasty dogs that attack people (in reality 3 rescue cats that I had spayed/neutered)
One daughter also has 2 rescue cats, soft as whatsit, the other a rescue staffie, who, whilst hating cats, thinks she is one. (it's weird having a staffie curl up on your lap like a cat). When not behaving like a cat, she likes nothing better than having a 'fight' with my nearly 3 year old grandson. No teeth used, unless she's clamped the carrot in her jaws and grandson wants it!

...and so goes the divide & rule of the governing classes........

luckily she has a private pension and we intend to downsize once the youngest has finished uni
so she will still finish about 60

As most of us have on this thread. So why you have done your normal trick of picking on me specifically, I have no idea. If you can take advice, go to bed earlier and leave computer alone after midnight. You get a grumpy little sheep after the bewitching hour :-( :-( :-(

Chaps I think 50 is merely a small milestone and a launchpad to do bigger and greater things - learn something new, do something different

but you are right about kids,yes 3 out of four still live at home,but they earn and always have.
we have no mortgage now but the money has gone on other things,

i also love soul nights,and going to one next sat,

but really would love to stop working right now,the abuse we get from the parents of sick children we nurse is terrible and im finding that now i cant take it and want out,oh for a lottery win. :-D :-D :-D

i am 62 all summer i shall be out and about around the country at scooter ralies
in the winter assorted soul nights to fill the weekends
trying to find the time to start fishing again (just need to get past the wifes todo list)

Life is best at 48. Once you get beyond that (and I am 2 years and a bit beyond that now) life is no fun at all. In fact, reading threads and posting on Genes and facebook becomes the highlight of your day. ;-)

And absolutely nothing excels standing on the Kop and being urinated on. Life can only go downhill from there :-)

Childhood was great, teenage was even better, and my age now is the best so far ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

in m school if you had long hair(I DID) SOMEONE WOULD TAKE A LIGHTER TO IT JUST FOR A LAUGH,
We also had a ice cream van outside school,the big thing at the time was for the older girls to go round shoving ice cream cones in 1st years faces,i had my face covered in ice cream more than once,not good when your eyeing up the first yr heart throb.. but i cant remember having my head shoved down the pan though,so maybe it was just a brummie thing :-D :-D

its when the big kids take you to see the blue goldfish and stick your head down the pan
must be a brummie thing or just my school maybe

dad took me to the kop once while we were still living in liverpool,but he never took me again after someone higher up in the stalls pee"d on us. :-D
