We think (with a back of a fag packet approach) that we'll break even as we are taken out of the income tax bracket for the coming tax year.

Has no one noticed the eligibility for childcare allowance?

20% tax relief on childcare up to £6,000 per child from 2015

...providing both parents are working and their earnings do not exceed £150,000 each. In the first year only children under five will qualify, but it is proposed to extend the new scheme to up to 12-year olds over time...

Not exceed £150,000? With that level of family income, why should they get any relief? Is this a sop for the higher earners who have lost the Child Benefit?

Well I seem to be going to be about £50 better off, pity gas/electric gone up more than that :-(

How on earth does the word "fair" come into the equation, when bankers, I could spell that another way, got us into this mess and Joe Public suffers they get rewarded :-S

And as to working hard, yes he must be exhausted and that will be why he has to get in a private jet and fly to Ireland every week to make sure is race horses are alright :-|

Sounds like a case of - Nero fiddled while Rome burned :-(

I am researching the Wotherspoon family from the Old/New Monkland areas of Scotland, some moved to the Leslie and Kelty areas of Fife and I'm having problems linking the Wotherspoon's from Leslie and the Wotherspoon's from Kelty. I am also researching the Clusker family from Co. Meath in Ireland who moved to West Lothian and from there to Fife............"Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est"

Yes, but Rich will have to pay 45% tax on most of that. Not very fair if he has worked hard for his money.

Think I might start a sympathy thread ;-) Wonder if he has a spare bedroom.
