Footie, she would have stayed in, because she probably can't get out. We have had this since Thursday, with no let up on the horizon.
Hope I don't have to go to Derby tonight.

Jane and Julia - when I lived in the Midlands I never saw/heard it but in the South now it really shocked me. We have fine powdery snow its been coming down since early hours started sticking abt 11am it is quite lovely, but looking at the news its been causing some trouble. Just seen the snow in Derby where niece is I'm sure she would have stayed indoors x

Nope haven't heard it Mel.
But i did see a couple of flashes of lighting on thursday night/fri morning the wind was howling and snow was blowing all over the place couldn't get to sleep at all, the wind was blowing the dustbins all over the place OH had to get up and secure everything again , when he came back in he looked like a snowman lolol

Jane, I am East Midlands also.

Footie, I have known it lighten and snow. Quite a frightening experience. Also, they have been forecasting thundersnow, during these last few days, but not happened here yet.

No rumbles here .But been snowing that fine icy snow since last night.I have never heard of Thundersnow.I am East Midlands.

been snowing since the early hours but now its thundering - its v rare apparently someone said google thundersnow. Anyone else hear it?
