while travelling up to town (Newcastle).

Two old ladies....even older them me ;-)...one said to other, "eeh I think when men retire after working all their life, that they should have counselling.Cos when Tom retired he didn't know what to do with his time,he just sits around."
Other replied "does he not have any hobbies like to keep him active?".......reply "oh yes he likes to listen to his records and that."

Bet his wife could give him something active to do lolol it certainly made me smile and btw I wasn't 'cocking me lugs' (sorry Geordie expression ;-) )....they were talking quite loudly. :-D :-D

:-D Mau, you remind of a pal of mine, Ursula (think you met her?). Whenever we are on a bus together she never listens to a word I say. Too busy listening to others! :-D <3

I can listen in stereo :-D

I do like to listen whist I having to travel on the bus which I HATE doing, especailly our local bus which is mostly full of yobs and young girls that you just want to slap. I wear my bus face is a a cross between :-( and :-| and nornally sends out the message " please do not and try to engage me in conversation I do not know you " and then I have my bus glare which I normally use early in the morning when some bus yob is playing loud noises from his mobile phone which he thinks is music. I also use it to people who announce to the bus in their loud big gobs that they are " up in court this morning init" why do they feel the need to brag about it why are they not hanging their heads in shame and full of remorse.... so they get oneof my bus glares with an added turn up of the nose roll of the eyes and a little snort. :-D Infact most of the buses I use you are lucky to get off still wearing your shoes :-(

I would just hate that Hayley :-|.... must say one of the joys of being retired is that we can travel on bus or metro when the little darlings are all at school :-) used to like to take the car up but parking is such a pain that it's easier to use our passes :-D....I sound like I'm gettting real grumpy in me auld age ;-)...am not really <3

Hayley, you have the makings of a Grumpy Old Gal. Soon you will progress to giving verbals.

I was pushed aside as I was leaving a lift in the hospital the other day. So I followed the woman and tapped her on the shoulder. 'you pushed me' I said politely 'Why'? She was mortified, well I THINK she was as I could only see her eyes. Then she said 'sorry' so I said 'that's ok but don't do that again'. I felt great! :-D :-D :-D

Mauatthecoast Report 24 Mar 2013 12:46

good on yer BC <3 :-D... an apology can go a long way to giving peace of mind....ie not letting situation fester.......and being pushed in a hospital makes it appear even worse imo so :-0 hope you tapped firmly? ;-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 24 Mar 2013 12:59

Lol Ann!!!

The worst thing on our bus is the fact that people don't seem to want to keep conversations private any more. They shout on the phone and they shout when sitting next to each other (male and female). Then we have the young families that get on (and I mean young 17/18 year olds), Mum and Dad and two or three little ones plus usually one in a buggy. Mum and buggy park themselves at front of bus and baby proceeeds to grizzle or scream or both, Dad takes toddlers to the back of the bus which is elevated so they can all see each other. Mum and Dad then proceed to hold a conversation about their lives (which is not at all interesting) across the bus and the rest of us, until they get off. Why????

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 24 Mar 2013 13:08

Bit like a rugby shove BC? no don't believe you would :-0 did she rub her arm then?;-)...rude woman!

Like that AnnC :-D

Why indeed Ann,something to do with them being ignorant and/or having no consideration :-| and also I guess they just wouldn't get it :-(

SheilaSomerset

SheilaSomerset Report 24 Mar 2013 13:12

My Mum doesn't shout but she has one of those voices that carry a long way!! When she came down last year, my sister and I took her to Bath, using the Park & Ride. The bus was quite full so I went upstairs and sat next to the stairwell. Mum has always denied that she is 'loud' but when I recounted what I'd heard from the top deck, she went very quiet... :-D

I love having conversations on holiday with other folk, surely that's the way it should be,and especially if they live in different parts of the world. With lots to learn... and how nice it would be if all cultures could live together in harmony :-D

had a lovely conversation a few days ago with the guy who runs a fish and chip shop in our village - asked him where he came from - Pakistan - he then showed me some pictures of where he lived - the Swat Valley - what a fantastic beautiful place - he has family there still - they have a farm and they grow rice and peaches - why on earth he chooses to live here I have no idea
