These days most pheasants in the wild originate from the lucky ones who manged to escape a 12 bore cartridge. |

We have plenty of wild pheasants out here. Every time I drive down the road, or back up, I might see several. I have even seen mummy shepherding her chicks out of the way on occasions. |

On Saturday OH discovered robins are nesting at the back of his shed - nice and sheltered. Thought it was a bit early but googled and it is not. |

They fly very well which is why they are bred for shooting - there is no such thing as a wild pheasant. Obviously you have not seen a pheasant after a stoat of fox has dealt with it. They don't run fast enough. |

It is both illegal and very bad form to shoot a pheasant on the ground. |

We had a sqirrel in our loft a few years ago, but managed to block his entrance when he was out! Someone else in the village had quite a few in their loft, and the pest control people used a sniper to shoot them. |

Yes, daughter gets a lot more varieties of birds than we do. Trouble is they get squirrels too and had to have the pest man out as squirrels got into the loft. |

We have a cock pheasant visit our patio every day, looking for the food we put out for the birds - he seems quite tame. |

First time we have had one - we get most species of feathered friends - especially with the wood behind. |
