It has nothing to do with you John, so you would not be offended. It has to do with me, and people in the same position as me, so I have every reason to be offended. But you would not understand. Would you. Mind your own business, and keep out of it, for once.

It seems to me that IGP is stating simple and accepted fact. He excludes medical conditions in his second sentence, so absolutely no need for offence imho

Whilst there is an obvious connection between calorie intake, calorie usage and weight loss or gain in the vast majority of us, I am not so sure that overweight or obese equals lazy.

I think it often does, but that is only an opinion. I know I feel much less lazy when I am close to my ideal weight.

Aside from myself, the "fat" people I know all eat a sensible diet, they do not gorge nor do they eat in secret...they do however have medical conditions which limit the amount of exercise they can do ( some cannot walk more than a few yards due to arthritis, or inoperable conditions which affect mobility) ... they eat to live not live to eat, their condition means that though they eat the dietary needs recommended by their doctor they cannot lose weight or easily keep it stable due to the side effects of the medication they HAVE to be on.

Thin, or bang on correct weight, does NOT mean you are immune to ill health, nor does being obese mean one is lazy or greedy. It is wrong to generalise without knowing individual circumstances.

InspectorGreenPen, as a medicated Diabetic, there is no chance of drinks and snacks in between. Do not tar every overweight person with the same brush.

Thank God not everybody thinks as you do. You should wash your mouth out.
You try to portray yourself as someone with intelligence, but at the end of the day, you are just the same.

Did you forget to put a full stop after the word "Welsh", BK?

Just hoping :-)

Like you too, by the way.

Sadly the fact is that most people who are overweight eat and drink to much, but won't admit to it. When in public they only eat in moderation, but what you don't see are the extra snacks and drinks in between.

Yes, of course, there are those with medical conditions who can't help it and need all the sympathy and help they can get, but they are in the minority.

On the subject of trolleys, our local mega Tesco had them left all over the car park until they replaced them with a £1 slot version last year. Might be a tad annoying to some but it does work.

Sylvia - 25cents? we have to put the equivalent of $1.50 in.....!

I have spent all day round car parks pushing them tidy.

And not one trolly out of place in any supermarket in South Wales today. Is it a Welsh thing perhaps. Is that why we say tidy a lot? :-S :-S

My OH some years ago kindly bought me a picture. It hangs in the downstairs loo. It is of a sheep and it says "Ewes not fat ewes cuddly".

Our Tesco nor our Sainsbury's charge for trolleys. Morrisons do.

The Tesco we use has trollies that the wheels lock when they reach the perimeter of the car park. Well that is what it says on each trolley. I wouldn't know if it is true because I have never tested it.. And every time we go shopping I take my trolley back to the trolley park, then spend ages straightening out all the other trolleys of the same sort so they can be pushed into the park out of the way of cars. why can't people park them tidily when they do take them back? :-)
