WHAT? They can't be more damaging than real ciggies FGS...it can only be to protect the tax for the Government and the Tobacco companies profits !!!!!!

So much for the nanny state......they'd rather you smoked yourself to bits than lose the revenue or the good will of the manufacturers clearly !!!!!!!!

Another extremely stupid idea from the EU. The cigs are not medicinal you don't need a prescription! They are an OTC products like gum and patches.

Mine costs me about 50% of proper ciggies according to the manufacturer but a couple of puffs and you put it down again. I reckon they cost about 30% of conventional fags.

It is a considerable outlay at the beginning especially as I chose one of the most expensive kits as I wanted quality assurance. I read about a chap in Central or South America whose ecig exploded and seriously damaged his mouth and blew his teeth to smithereens.

IF they became more acceptable, pubs, clubs, restaurants etc., would start to see an upturn in takings.

Mine are going into hospital with me :-D

years ago I worked for Gallahers, B & H, Manikin etc. At the time cigs were around 3/6 a pack of 20, of that 3/6 Gallaher's got 6d, the rest went in tax - so I presume the same proportion applies today - if cigarettes were no longer bought the tax would have to come from somewhere else - and why, oh why, is alcohol not marked up in price? Alcohol related problems cost the country millions a year, mostly by the police force in dealing with unsocial behaviour, domestic abuse etc. Ask any nurse in A & E who they would rather deal with - a smoker, or a drinker
