Seeing the news tonight I now understand why the Judge is taking her time, the man is pure evil,

eRRolSheep Report 3 Apr 2013 22:32

Wend let us not pre-judge the man - after all, that would be a terrible thing to do.
Heaven forbid that we judge him and well done - he may be making such comments because he is afflicted with asthma or a broken nail

Nuff said, Errol. More important issues here. JLC is not important :-|

I find it hard to believe that two good threads that should have generated great discussions have led into "showcasing" one person :-(

eRRolSheep Report 3 Apr 2013 22:42

well let's face it, he never backs up his arguments either through substance or subsequent posts anyway and certainly not through experience based informed opinion.
Anyway, I would think that they will get pretty near to maximum tariff and justifiably so

I really don't know why you bother with him. The more you answer him the more he will post.
More people get wound up and argue amongst themselves because of his posts.

Chrissie 2394 ,
I can imagine if you've lived fairly close to these people you will have more knowledge than any of the rest us posting.

Seeing it and hearing first or second hand.....it's heck of a more of than the rest of us can comment on.
I totally agree with your post.....they should never be released.

Sandie.

Just hope the defence and prosecution haven't gone into Chambers to make a deal over the sentence the evil tow rags get.

I would string both men up by their Ba"" and her by her hair and leave them.

If they get sentenced to Life for Manslaughter the most they will get is 15 yrs but wether that will be for all the children or 15 yrs for each child we will have to wait and see.

And how can the judge call them good parents is beyond me.

RIP The six children.

Mr Magoo and Sparkling Sandie spot on

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 3 Apr 2013 23:07

Sue there was never any doubt that in some ways they were good parents - the children were exceedingly well fed, well turned out for school etc etc
Manslaughter is what they were guity of because they did not intend to actually commit infanticide

all three should be put in a derelict house in the bedrooms, then the house set on fire with no escape available - an eye for an eye and all that

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 3 Apr 2013 23:19

I am not disputing they were not well fed, clothed etc but what would they have grown up like with evil parents like those two.

All they would have known is it's ok to live off the state all your life and have as many women he liked.
That situation was not ideal for the childrens minds.

Two things no one had mentioned (unless i missed it)

1. Jeremy Kyle. What was the follow-up to that road crash programme. I never remember the audience being as horrified as me. In fact, they seemed to find his outrageous behaviour and his ridiculous comments to be mildly amusing.

What happened to all the counselling and post-programme support that Kyle always harps on about?

2. What on earth were social services doing? How do they allow people to bring up children in such a feral and feckless way? It is happening now in many places. These terrible tragedies will happen again and again.

The solution seems so obvious to me. Monitor families regularly with health vistors, housing inspectors and social workers. Friendly, supportive monitoring and assistance. Let reports be written and then get some very experienced and hard-nosed people to follow up cases like the Philpotts, and families that are proud to be given anti-social orders.

One of my brothers in law is from the rough end of Liverpool (Dingle). He used to be on the crack team of social services in Liverpool who had to do the unpleasant work with the real problem families. He has been there and done it. Even Mick and Mairead would not have won the day with him or his ilk

oh John oh John oh John your innocence and naivety is so endearing

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Apr 2013 23:55

I actually think that John has made a good point about social services. We are a society that hurt and neglect our children.....and our elderly. The neglect of our children has become a widespread problem although it has always gone on. It is now being brought out into the open and consequently social services are finding it difficult to cope. That's not down to the staff in most cases. It's happening here in Australia just the same as in the UK.

Rambling Report 3 Apr 2013 23:58

re counselling from the JK programme John, you have to want it...I doubt that Philpott wanted any counselling...why would he? you only ask for that if you see a problem...he had none.

In terms of social services, the morality of the situation was not their remit, the general health and welfare of the children was 'ok' not a cause for concern. They obviously attended school, seemed to all intents and purposes not in any way 'at risk'.

You can't just plonk a social worker in because the situation is 'alternative' ie two 'wives'...that is a personal choice of the adults however much it might offend my sensibilities.

I would say that I can't quite make out why he got away with not working/looking for work for so long...all the people I know who are unemployed get chivvied to apply for jobs, attend training etc. but that is another issue and I don't know the exact circumstances.

Silly Sausage Report 3 Apr 2013 23:58

John is it me being totally stupid or are you trying to lay the blame for the parents actions by killing their children at somebody's door? Well dont if you are, if you had bothered to watch the promgrames last night a head teacher was interviewed and as Errol has already said, the children were fed clean well manered and although all the agencys who deal with child protection were aware of the families alternitive life style all be it unhealthy the children never triggered cause for concern they were care for.

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 4 Apr 2013 00:05

Hayley. I am suggesting none of this would have happened had the children been taken off them.

And if the various institutions really thought that family was a normal loving family after seeing Kyle, I give up. He had many dangerous personality traits that were very thinly veiled in humour and charm.

Sending young middle class graduates into these sorts of families will get all the wrong answers and wrong responses. That is my opinion for what it's worth.
