I have a MicroS. Had it 2 years.

It is now missing out typed letters meaning I have to go back and insert letters all the time, and hit the keys hard to get them to print.

It is not the batteries.

any ideas, can't find any help in the 'Keyboard Help'

And it is not always the same letters

AnninGlos, had similar problems, but mine is caused by ash from my cigarettes as I will type with a cigarette in my hand :-(

I just give it a gentle tap or two on the bottom where the space bar is then turn it upside down and give it a shake.

Think I will soon need to go mad and buy a new one

first off try reinstalling the drivers and see if it makes a difference.
You can also try cleaning it (you can carefully prise the individual keys off).
And also try connecting another keyboard to see if the same problem occurs.

Being the person he is OH Had a couple more keyboards up in the roof so I am trying an HP one, still wireless, not sure why it was abandoned, except it is an older style and clunky keys. So far it is fine and not a missed letter at all. so that proves it is the keyboard that is clapped out. Being that it is the third microsoft keyboard I have got through in about 5 years, maybe it is time to shange brand :-D

Have you tried turning the keyboard over and slapping its bottom?
Surprising what comes out: it's a good idea to do it every couple of weeks.

AnninGlos Report 4 Apr 2013 17:38

Yes I did try that Brian but I think it is past all that OH had a look at it and decided to try this one which is fine, except it makes my fingers ache, the keys are not as flat and smooth as a more modern one, more like typewriter keyys. I will get myself a new one next week probably when we are out and about.

I use Logitech and have had several over the years.

Not worth messing around if yours isn't working properly. Basic wireless keyboard and mouse for my grandson to use on our ten year old Dell cost under £20 so doesn't need to break the bank.

No I know, it is just I do hate this throw away society where things can't be fixed so end up in landfill (or in the loft).

Last keyboard I bought was from T*sco, true it was wired but I think it was £7.99.

I am no typist, but my keyboard is wireless and keys are flat like our laptop...,when mine went iffiy (,it still does sometimes ) we looked around for a new one,
I didin't like those high pointy keys,or the dead plain black boards..
Mine has a silver edging..
No idea what make it is cos I'm on the laptop now,

Mine had a smack on the bottom,, a good shake up and dusting ,then a spraying with Ambersil..Amberclens Antistatic foamiing cleaner mostly it is fine now..:))

Hubby has spare keyboards but I just hated those pointy keys and the colour.

I just want a nice flat screen monitor and an upgrade, which is on his to do list ;-)
I'll keep to my silver and black kit. :-D

Hubby's new laptop is supposed to be delivered in the morning, perhaps I can play on this one until and if he manages to sell it !
Otherwise I'll keep it and change all the settings cos it doesn't spellcheck in GR and doesn't do a lot of things I'g like it to......but it's not mine ....yet
;-)

Ann~~
Mine is a Microsoft Sol with lots of numbers after it !!!!??
It's fine at the mo. :-D
When mine plays up it usually the same letters, so hubby took it apart.
Looking at it now it could do with a good clean again ...Ugh !

Hubby has just had his new laptop delivered.
It was unused and blinking eck another black Sams**g...................3 now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought it off e.bay..one prob at the mo ,it's requesting a password for changing certain things.
The seller gave him the password which he can access most everything, but it kicking up a password request for one alteration.
Son is home...and he is on the trail :)))
He is like a dog with a bone , between them they'll sort it.
My basic answer was to e.mail seller to ask if the was another password on it when he bought it.
Simple ..but no , they want to sort it. !!!
They will be in their elements when they do ;-)...keep them quite for a while.!

Hope you have yours sorted or have a suitable replacement lined up.
