Glad the scan is over and done with and hope you feel better today Sue.

Positive thoughts that the results show less wrong than you think.

Dear Sue

Hello

Good that your friend was with you.

At least the scan is over and done with and you are back home.

Take things easy and gently in the next few days.
Lots of good wishes

Well I went for my scan today at 3pm. It is was pretty uncomfortable. The tube was one of the small ones and it almost touched my head - just kept my eyes shut tight the whole 45 mins. 4 times they did it and it got hotter and hotter on my back.
Skin was bright red when they had finished.

Glad my friend came with me - I'm not a wusy person but it actually made me feel sick - so glad she was there.

A new experience - had to be done I suppose.

I had this problem a couple of years ago when I had to have a brain scan. The neurologist arranged for me to have it done in a scanner without sides. The machine came down to my face but I could see out of the windows through the sides. I was still nervous but did not feel trapped in the scanner.

Hospital are aware of folks being scared of claustrophobia etc. I myself was worried but they do reassure you.

I've had two MRI scans and the first time they said to close my eyes and what kind of music I liked....so when I was in there Elvis was too :-D........I'm sure you'll be fine Sue :-)

When the appointment came for my first scan, the accompanying letter said that if I thought it would pose a problem for me, then I should visit my own GP for a mild sedative, as they did not give these.
Also that, if I wanted a favourite CD played whilst in the scan, to bring it along with me, and they would play it.
This did help alot.

Good Luck

Because hubby has body twitches he was given a mild sedative before he was taken in for the scan. he said he closed his eyes and nodded off and it was over before he knew it .

You must tell them your problem at the hospital and let them decide what is best for you. I'm sure they would have dealt with this problem before.

Pretty sure you will be given a sedative at the hospital before the scan, so I wouldn´t recommend taking anything before hand

alternatively if you can arrange it as you are in London,

Ask the pharmacist NanaSue..it would be unwise for anyone to recommend anything on here, even something that worked for them, without knowing what pre-existing conditions or allergies you might have.

Old age is catching me - have to have an MRI scan Sunday. Grandkids say it is just pushing Nanny in a tunnel to take a photo of her inside.

The problem is I'm claustrophobic - sis locked me in a wardrobe when I was small.

Anybody give me any advise how to keep calm. Anything I can buy over the counter. If I don't have it done it will mean going to the bottom of the list and having to wait for months - my health problem is potentially rather serious so it needs to be done now
