Just shows that the political elite live in a different world, they don't just have spare bedrooms, they go one better, they have spare houses :-|

You have to go back and blame Lloyd George - it was him who arranged it.

Cost to the public is probably no more than a couple of pence each so even if it were to be let off sold or whatever, it would have virtually zero effect on the state of the public purse.

I agree Errol. In fact he should either pay for it or let it to earn extra dosh!

You could get all the good people from on here to have a big May bank holiday meet at Chequers, now that would be fun. :-D

Ah, but in their eyes, Erroll, there are food banks where 'the poor' can now get their food. Ergo, they need less money to live on :-D Mind you, if this was in any other EU country, no doubt our government would be slagging them off and sending money to them.

Ann you can be added to the guest list if you wish.
I think the point that all these politicians, mandarins, advisers are missing is that when a person unfortunately becomes unemployed they are sent a letter. In that letter it states how much they will receive and says words to the effect "you are getting this because it is deemed to be the minimum you need to survive". How can they now take more money off people? Surely if they have already said this is the minimum you need they are shooting themselves to say that money will now be reduced further.
Totally out of touch - all parties!

Also, if it's deemed necessary for the PM to a 'place away' from his workplace, (apart, of course from his two homes) why aren't the rest of us entitled to a 'place away' ie spare room?

As Chequers was "bequeathed" to the nation I think we should all go down there for the weekend :-)

Many people are adversely affected and it is about the time the government and politicians (of all persuasions) woke up
