I agree Jude, I'ts infuriating and been going on for far too long. I've got to the pitch now, after having complained to Genes and getting nowhere, of not renewing my subscription when it comes up. I just can't be bothered to struggle with it anymore!!

I am fed up with it too so I don't use the site as often as I used to :-| :-|

I only have trouble on the long running threads or those with many pages.

Those aside, could it be something to do with the browser or operating system you use?

That's what we use, so it may not be that causing the problem :-0

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Apr 2013 10:40

This is what I wrote to GR.

I am having trouble posting on my thread which I have had for many years now.

When I try to submit a post I keep getting the dreaded Error page and when I finally get to the thread I find it has been posted. If I hit submit a couple of times the post comes up a couple of times.

This has been going on now for some weeks and is very annoying.

This morning when I tried to log in in my favorites it said this site is not available now on a white page. I had to turn my pc off and start all over again and get into the site by googling Genes Reunited. Read the latest posts on my thread tried to post and boom the Error page.

A very cheesed off Mel..............

This was their reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mel,

I am ever so sorry to hear the problems you have been experiencing whilst trying to post a message on your thread.

This is the first report we have had of this.

Please could you try clearing your cache? This eliminates saved internet files on your system. Depending on how many cached files you have stored on your computer, doing this can speed up your system slightly. Cached files will soon accumulate though, so it's important to clear your cache often.

This link should help:

If this does not help, please let me know.

What do they mean by "This is the first report we have had of this" !!!!!!!!!

Porkie_Pie Report 6 Apr 2013 10:46

"We have had no other complaints" ye right pull the other one it's got bells on

There's even threads on the Suggestions board about the dreaded Error and has been for at least the last 9 months

Well! I've complained - twice, and I know others have too,! so to say that this is the first complaint is blatently not true!! The advice here is roughly what I was given, and not at all helpful! If it really can't be sorted, I for one shall not be renewing.

May be worthwhile looking at the Suggestions page....

It's interesting that there is no response from The Team. :-S

Clearing your browser cache is important and it can help web pages to load more quickly. So, yes, it is good practice to do this on a regular basis.

The 'dreaded ggggrrrr....error message' is s different matter altogether and is most likely to be a problem at the GR end, when the system times out because it is taking too long to process the action you have asked it to do.

Please do refer to the thread on the Suggestions Board add details of the instances where you are experiencing these messages.

Did'nt get it yesterday but got it again this morning.

Just when are they going to do something about it as some days it is alright and others it's not.

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 16 Apr 2013 12:09

No other complaints????????

What?????????

Didn't they read mine? Or yours?

Yes they did, and I got the same stupid advice about clearing cache etc..... to which I replied with the usual........ stop telling me how to do something I've been doing every week for years! (and a few other comments).

As I said on another thread, the only thing that has changed about the Error Message is the colour :-P

I get them when I post on threads (but not all the time), but usually when I send a contact message or reply to one. Error messages galore! I now copy my message before sending it; I check to see if it has gone, if not I paste & send it again. Then I find out I have sent the message at least twice.

:-P

Hi, I have been getting the error message for several weeks now, mostly when I try to get onto certain threads, but more recently also when I try to add to threads, after the error message if I try to submit again it is shown 2/3 times.
I sent a message to GR a while ago and the answer I got was try another computer, have tried both my pc and laptop, same problem on both.
I think come August I will not be renewing.
Hope GR get this sorted, and quickly, .
Have a good day everyone.

I too can't get on this morning, unless I go up about 50 pages at a time!! so time consuming and frustrating, and I just can't be bothered so I will not be renewing in May. As for saying they haven't had any complaints except one, that is complete rubbish and another reason why I won't be renewing!
