Hi all, thanks for bringing the issue to our attention, we know that the error message happens when trying to post on threads with lots of pages, and we will be applying a solution soon.

If you could enter the site using www.genesreunited.co.uk rather than bookmarks or saved links, as sometimes we make alterations to the way the url's are structured which means that the link will take you to a page that no longer exists and you will get an error message.

Thanks, Natasha

Hello Natasha:)

Nice to see you:)

l always get into GR by using the website, l used to have it in my favs and history. So this should'nt apply to me then, but it does, it happened a few times earlier:(((((((

Hello Natasha ~~

I do not use bookmarks ,favs or history to come onto GR...

I still get the dreaded errors .

In fact if you check 8 of my posts made earlier this evening each came up with errors .If you are able to do so.

I think I may have posted perhaps 10 so that's a pretty high percentage by anyone's standards!

I'll put up my own thread, if I don't get a response,.to raise more response, meaning no one from GR is following these threads....or not taking much effort do do anything about the problem.

My son is an IT Graduate , he doesn't like this site , I wonder why . ;-)

I get the Error message for about 85-90% of posts submitted

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I've been complaining for weeks ................... I even have a thread up on Suggestions

other threads on the subject date back at least 18 months

and Natasha's response to always enter the site using the url sounds akin to various other suggestions that work for some people but not others .....................

a placebo in other words!

It also does not apply ONLY to threads with a lot of pages ...........

......... I have it occurring much more often on threads with only the OP, with 2 pages, etc etc Those are the threads I am usually working on.

I won't use the UK site, because it caused me loads of problems in the past (couldn't add to my tree).

What about the members who don't live in the UK?

:-(

Natasha ~ something else you could look at, please!

I'm fed up getting the same old responses from the GR team! I know how to clear my cache etc etc, and I wish they would STOP telling me how to do the basics!

I'm fed up being told they cannot recreate my problem. That doesn't help!

I'm fed up being fobbed off with stupid responses, and also being told I am the only person having a problem.

:-D <<<<<<<< another grimace

For the benefit of those who haven't followed the discussions on the other boards, the error message on posting is because the system has not been able to complete the processing within a given time.

For most members, messages and threads this time is ample and in virtually all cases by the given time the message has actually been posted but the system may be still performing some housekeeping.

The housekeeping will involve setting markers for every one who has an interest in that thread so the appropriate icon is displayed in their lists.

The effect is that anyone who has a large number of posts and threads to their credit will be vulnerable to timeouts as will anyone posting on a large thread (such as the Australian one or many of those on the Quizzes board).

Whether there is enough time for a posting to be completed will depend on the system status and load which will fluctuate so that the error does not always occur. Any server problems will likely increase the occurrence of errors.

Creating more threads about the problem is not a good idea.

KenSE

I would like to delete a lot of my posting and always did so when a thread became 'dead', but am now not able to do 'housekeeping 'on my threads as I had done in the past, and it makes me reluctant to add to threads now.
