GB, you did the right thing.
She must have had a wonderful life with you - and you with her, but her time had come, and you did the most humane thing - because you loved her.
She's at peace now, out of pain.
Remember, she's not missing you, wherever he is, you're missing her presence, remembering her, wishing she didn't have to go, but, being the loving owner you are, you let her go.

I have been through this with my pets and it's always hard to make that final decision but when a beloved cat or dog is poorly we cannot allow them to suffer so have to be brave and put their needs first.

Your home will feel empty and quiet for some time until you get used to the loss but maybe in time you will feel able to do for another animal all you did for Suzy, to have another pet is a tribute to the previous one.

I am sure Suzy is happily playing with other dogs and will know when it's time to come to Rainbow Bridge to meet you again.

My son and I often talk about our Daisy, who we lost in 1998 Sadly neither of us is in a position to have another dog now but I am sure my son will give a home to a pet as soon as he is able.

Smile at your memories of Suzy.

The Vet phoned this morning really to make sure I was okay.

Yes it had been Suzy that I heard howling - well I knew it was her.

Took them quite a long time to get her calmed down. Apparently the nurse stroked her while she was put to sleep..

They think it might have been a brain problem after watching her reactions in the surgery and out in the treatment room. This would have meant MRI scans and then they might not have been able to treat her anyway.

Do feel a bit better this morning that I did make the right decison for her.

Strange but a lot of the dog walkers prefer the other surgery down in town but I have no complaints about this one.

what a lovely story about rainbow bridge,it made me cry reading it,i had an old english sheep dog who was everything to our family, she was never ill, then suddenly she had a massive stroke one saturday evening and we had to have her put to sleep it broke our hearts she was 14 years old.Two years later we aquired a black cocker spaniel dog Lucy was her name. She was completly out of her tree,we eventially trained her and she was a great companion considering we never wanted her,she had spondolitus,a toe amputated and then developed liver cancer.I knew and so did Lucy when it was time to go for a long sleep.we were heartbroken again,Lucy was 8years old.i am so glad to think she is somwhere with my other dog on Rainbow Bridge,My sympathies to you as i know how you feel. :-(
