Can I redirect posters to AnnCardiff's thread please so that there is no confusion over two identical threads?

And as you say Ann, nobody seems to care. She may have been greatly unpopular but she is a part of our modern history.

That's very unfair to say no one cares.....give people the chance to find out fgs......FB is alive with it and on my feed at least the majority of comments i've seen are respectful and appropriate....from both sides of the political spectrum.

I noticed that Ann - there appeared to be a little vitriol but no matter.
Add whatever you want on this thread.
It is not an RIP thread, more of a statement that she has died and a look back on what she did or did not do.
Just please don't let it turn nasty (not directed that at anyone in particular)

I'm not sure why you think no-one seems to care Ann - many will not be aware that she has died - it's only been announced in the last couple of hours.


I am sorry to hear the news as I admired her greatly. That doesn't mean that I always agreed with her but she was one amazing woman who stood up for what she believed was right.


To see her in her failing years was very sad indeed.


May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

I thought she was a very determined and strong woman, extremely clever and a hard worker.

I admired her hugely as an individual............just not all her political policies.

I admire her for succeeding to the top job in a 'man's world'. I did not agree with all of her policies, but she was never grey or wishy-washy, never resorted to hand-wringing angst, or pandered to the media, or suffered fools. 'Iron Lady' was an appropriate tag!

I have only just learned of her death when I switched on PC.

Baroness T - I will always remember that she fought her Cabinet in order to protect Falkland and won.

May she RIP.

She was a mother and a grandmother, so my thoughts are with her family.

No matter what anyone thinks of her politics, I hope that they will not be disrespectful on the death of a fellow human being

Let us not forget that Thatcher was the longest serving prime minister in the UK in the 20th century

I am sure we can all have sympathy for her family and friends, regardless of any personal antipathy to Mrs Thatcher herself. If nothing else those of us who disagreed with her politically can be glad that she helped clarify our own political opinions.

At the end she was an old, ill woman, essentially alone and not able to remember friends, I won't weep for her, but I find I won't actually celebrate either. Death is the great leveler.

Don't you think there's an appropriate time to be airing such views Ann not within an hour or so of the announcement of her death?

I should imagine you've made your views on her known at other times....leaves a nasty taste in my mouth that folk are so quick to bad mouth her on the day she died....if it were a politican I disliked I'd say nothing or show genuine sorrow for the death of a human being...

There again i was brought up to believe there's a time and a place........

Pretty disgusted tbh....not by yours and others views...but by the crashing bad manners.

Did'nt like her either but yes she was a determined lady and worked hard.

I agree with Muffy. Right now, it doesn't matter what we think of her politics - a lady has died and her family are grieving so a little restraint might be a good thing.

I care! A life has been lost and feel respect for humanity is good enough respect at this time. She was an inspiration to many women and our first and only female prime minister and will leave a legacy only few ever leave. RIP a great lady x

Ann and Terry. This is not a political thread as such.


This is a thread about the death of a woman who played a great part in our British history - whether you agreed with her or not.


She has children and grandchildren who will mourn her. She was a human being.


When someone, on whom I am not very keen dies, I tend to keep my thoughts within my own four walls. I would never dream of publicly villifying them in death.


Very bad taste indeed.
