i do and if mum got a re-bate back we had sweet's as a treat,

also i thought i was the bees knees when i got my first compendium of games for christmas.

Anyone remember the leccy man calling, emptying the meter in the hall and putting the coins in piles on the stairs. Sorting out the foreign coins to give back to my mum.
Making snakes from wool and a cotton reel with 4 nails on the top. I used to make pompoms too from cardboard circles with an inner circle cut out.

Only a couple of weeks ago, I had to go out and buy a little gizmo, for making pompoms, which cost me nearly £2. Brink back the carboard bottle top, I say.

using dolly shaped wooden pegs and dressing them up to make dolls

using cardboard milk bottle tops - the ones with the holes in the middle, threading wool through them to make bobbles

plasticine - all different colours, but in th end they all got mixed up and turned grey

my whip and top - nipping in the classroom lunchtime to use the blackboard chalks to make lovely patterns on the tops so they looked lovely when they spun across the playground

Amokavid, I remember the Scraps also, and swapping them, for others deemed to be better to own.
The triangular sweet bag was called a 'poke', where I lived, and an ice cream cone a 'wee pokey hat'.
I remember too, before the advent of television, everyone read books. I was a member of the town library when I started school at 4 1/2 yrs.
After dark at night, because everyone was at work during the day, often a knock would come at the door. When answering it, the visitor would ask 'Any Books', and you would swop what you had read. This applied to the adults.
I remember too, the 6/7 layers of clothes worn in winter, and that was indoors and included the dreaded Liberty Bodice.
No central heating then.........

Joan, I used to collect scraps and made scrap books, too. Also, used to buy transfers, and put them on our hands, a sort of early temporary tattoo!

Maggie, if you didn't tuck your skirt into your knicker legs it fell over your face and you couldn't see anything........... it all went dark!

Joan - the 'stilt tins' were amazing!!!
At the time dad was manager of the fish factory in Mevagissey - and I had HUGE tins :-D

Those dreaded liberty bodices! Mine were quite tight, as I was a bit chubby!

Walking to school over a railway bridge with steam trains passing underneath - they terrified me.

We had tins of beads which we used to swap and barter, "crystal" ones being the most prized. Relatives were always being asked for broken necklaces.

Being wheeled around the neighbourhood in an old pram by my pals - I was the smallest one..

Ah! Memories too many to mention.

i Tressie doll in 1968 mum and dad saved to buy it for me for my 5th birthday,(they were very expensive) several yrs later my brother in a fit of temper cut all her hair off, i was devastated .

also had chatty cathy...she walked and talked :-D

The good old days????? yeh course they were :-D

Coats on the beds and ice on the inside of the windows
Measles swiftly followed by mumps

Ahhhhh.the bad old good old days :-D

I remember my tricycle, huge wheels and a shiny bell.
My doll that said Mumma when you tipped her on her back.
