He was a hero for a large section of British society. He was detested by others - who celebrated his death every 5 Nov with a public holiday, merry family days including a lot of baptims and weddings. Then they would dance round his burning effigy and celebrate his death for at least 200 years after 1605:-S :-S

On 13 April 1570 Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Fawkes, was born in York, he adopted the name while fighting for the Spanish in the Low Countries.

He was part of a group of provincial English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605 to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
