I must say Damart do swamp you with emails and catalogues - but I have had some very good buys from them and am reluctant to stop it. I have the same swamping from some puzzle magazines I subscribe to - the number of trial issues I've had I hardly need subscriptions! I have blocked their e-mails but not their post as I always hope each envelope might mean another prize!

Morning:)
This is the letter l sent yesterday....

To whom it may concern!!

l received a letter from you today telling me l have won £51,000.....what a load of rubbish.
You have very cleverly written the Sample Letter, for some it will do more than make them Light Headed, it will make them feel they have really won this amount. For me it just got me very angry.
Will you please delete me from your company name, all letters of this nature to stop now. Also emails unless it is in response to this email.
l may also contact a newspaper!

Some people really believe you and its cruel!!

regards

Received an email this morning thanking me for mine...lol
This is their reply:....LOL

Thank you for your e-mail

I can confirm your name and address have been removed from our mailing list. As our catalogues are printed and packed in advance of distribution they may still be received for up to 3 months.

Your e-mail address has also been unsubscribed from our e-mail promotions and newsletters, however should you continue to receive these, simply click unsubscribe at the bottom of the email

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Yours sincerely,

The Damart Team

BUT THIS does'nt mention my gripe etc about the scam letters, so l have replied with this......

Thank you for your email....

l can confirm that l received yet another email yesterday!!
But my main grievance is the TYPE of letter l and many others have received telling us we have WON £51,000.00 when we so obviously
HAVE NOT.

Its cruel and a scam!!
Please respond to the above.

.......so l am waiting for the response:)

Same as Scozz, I must admit I often do the same when I'm feeling particularly annoyed with certain firms who continually send stuff month after month.
In fact, even tho' a lot of it's not scam stuff, it is still annoying and Barclays Bank are big culprits sending junk week after week after week. What a waste of paper.
I stuff as much as I can into their post paid reply envelope and post it back - that way THEY are the ones paying for all their junk to be sent back to them!!
Tee hee, yes I know, little things please little minds, but it does cheer me :-D :-D :-D :-D

I used to get that garbage mail from Readers' Digest.

I saved it up, put it all in a LARGE envelope and posted it to them, with no stamps.

They stopped sending mail to me.

:-D

What about forwarding the letter (copy of it) to Trading Standards, or the progs on the tv about being scammed.

I have had letters like that in the past, when you don't have much money it's easy to get excited till you read the small print.

Someone I know had won something on Readers Digest but not claimed as she had forgotten about it. They tracked her down some time later and she had won £2,000.

Wow, a real person who got something from Readers Digest prize draw - must admit until now I didn't think there were any genuine winners.
Judging by their (acclaimed) prize monies I'm surprised ;-) it was only £10 as their literature/junk mail purports prizes are always in the £ 000000's :-D :-D :-D

Jude, I'd be interested to know what Damart come up with in their reply :-)

Unfortunately my parents used to believe this type of thing, they just didn't seem to be able to comprehend that there are people out there in the big wide world all set to rob us of our hard earned pennies! And my mum in law is much the same. I lost count of the amount of times my dad used to believe all the Readers Digest letters telling him how he'd been especially selected for such n such a prize draw :-(

I wonder if it's the older generation, coming from a time when people didn't have so much, that they are particularly gullible and trusting, in all innocence. My mum would give her last penny to anyone she thought was in dire need. .....unlike wot we've got to be, ie suspicious about everyone and everything for fear of being scammed left, right and centre!!.
