Tomorrow we cook the village lunch and have decided we will give them a school dinner.

It is all downstairs prepped and doesn't need much more than cooking tomorrow.

I have just completed the costings and we are feeding forty-five people two courses for £28.

Quorn pasties, carrots, boiled spuds, tinned peas. chocolate cracknell (Sugar Puffs, syrup, cocoa, butter, milk powder) and pink blancmange. There might be a bit of frozen blackberry mousse if it looks alright in the fridge in the morning.

Done it. All the plates were clean.

Got Fred a job now too. He is tablecloth monitor.

Somebody has to wash the cloths every month so I asked the organizer to askFred to do it. It gives him something to be in charge of.

Well done. I bet they enjoyed that.

I did think of you stirring vats of blancmange at lunch time....or perhaps it was already cold? I nearly bought some packets myself, as I conjured up the thought and memory of warm smooth blancmange.

Great that Fred has a new responsibility. Bet he will enjoy that task and it will give you a chance to not have to surrender your washing to him so often, if he is already busy.
Nice one.

Cold blancmange, we made it yesterday.

I had the skin, cooks perks.

It is one of those things you kind of forget to eat now but it is what we grew up on.

What you need is a good spotted dick.

You could always put some cream on your spotted dick.

Sharron not forgetting the skin on custard-yummy

Sharron

Sharron Report 18 Apr 2013 23:01

If I was your mother I would not have even let you know that blancmange, custard and milk puddings had a skin. That would have been all mine.

You don't realize how good bread and butter tastes until you grow up and eat it from choice.

The crusts probably don't give you white hair and curly teeth either.
