Keep your sniffer out Allan...or should it be that moustache.

The portrait of an artist as a young man :-D

On his Death Cert he is described as a "Decorative Artist (Theatre and Cinema)"

Alas Sandie, I only have a copy :-(

My cousin in the UK has the original. Prior to making contact with her I only had one photo of my granddad. As is usual in families it appears that my Aunt kept most of the family pictures :-)

and what will happen to all these lovely old photographs when we've popped our clogs?

Allan

Allan Report 22 Apr 2013 00:03

Absolutely Ann.

My cousin is a year or so older than I am, but hopefully her son, who she has told me is interested in FH, will now know their importance to the family, as does my daughter in relation to a couple of sketch books which I have which date from the 1830's and one of which caused a bit of a minor sensation in Canada.

Strangely enough I've gone thro all the photo's I inherited from my parent recently.

When sis has been here we've looked thro them together, , hubby's scanned some in and printed them for her.

I was looking for a particular photo recently and found some similar ones of our parents ( different poses),some lovely family holiday ones ( I know hubby hasn't scanned) which I am getting ready to send to her.
Asda do a really good cheap scanning ,and some I don't have duplicates or similar one of hols I've had done there. Really silly prices...,cheaper than doing it yourself !....will cost me an arm and a leg to send them to her tho.!

My children aren't too interested in photos...I'll have to write it in my will they must keep them in case,a future generation is interested !

I have some lovely studio photographs from the early 1900s of one of my father's sister, plus a brilliant Victorian one of my great grandmother - I have one son who is not interested in family history and no grandchildren, so they'll end up in the bin
