Have you found out about a famous or well known person/s from the past who shared your surname, or a surname in your family tree ? I found out that Thomas Heather was Chaplain to Charles the II, and William Heather is buried in Westminster Abbey. Also a Heather who was a yeoman, etc...

I also have the surname: Legge in my family tree, and a John Legge had something to do with the 'Peasants' Revolt' of 1381. I think he was a segeant-at-arms.

I have the surname: Woodroffe in my family tree, and I think there is a person buried in Westminster Abbey, with this surname. Perhaps he had something to do with Christopher Wren, need to check it out...

Charles Lamb (1775-1834), GH ;-) Edit. He was an essayist and appeared in silent films - very popular with soldiers coming back from Napoleonic wars

My real name is John Davison Rockefeller. Pure coincidence though :-)

My grandmother's name was Dashwood, the Rt Hon Francis Dashwood was a very colourful character in the 18th century, amongst other things he was Chancellor of the Exchequer, and founder of the Hellfire Club! Alas I do not think we are descended from this branch of the family :-D
