..Police searching for five-year-old April Jones have completed their search in and around the Welsh town where she went missing.

The youngster vanished while playing on her bike near her home in Machynlleth on October 1 last year.

In the six months since her disappearance, police officers and specialist search teams from across the country have scoured an area spanning more than 60sq km.

They have explored hundreds of points of interest including mountains, gorges, streams and waterfalls, and vowed not to end their search until "all viable lines of enquiry were complete".

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police, which described the search as "extremely challenging" , said a "reactive team of specialist officers is available to respond to any new information that is received".

April's parents, Paul and Coral Jones, previously said they were "overwhelmed" by the scale of the search operation.

"We are extremely grateful that so many search teams are still out there, every day, looking for our beautiful daughter," they said in November .

Mark Bridger is facing trial charged with abducting and murdering the schoolgirl and unlawfully disposing of and concealing her body with intent to pervert the course of justice.

The 47-year-old pleaded not guilty in January, when his barrister Brendan Kelly QC told Mold Crown Court that Bridger is "probably responsible" for her death.

On the day she went missing, April's parents had allowed her to stay out late as a treat for a glowing school report.

Bridger was arrested the day after April's disappearance.

How can he if guilty keep this from her parents and not let them and all families concerned have final peace of mind,as it seems he's going to serve a long long sentence anyway,withholding this vital detail is serving no purpose at all.

This little girl deserves and needs to be at rest.

If guilty that man has not only robbed April's family of her presence and April of her chance to live her life, but has denied them the chance to lay her to rest with respect and dignity. It must be heartwrenching for the family to think of her dumped somewhere, how can they ever move on in any small way. It's the same as the lad who was murdered on the Moors, his mother was never able to lay him to rest properly but at least now she is reunited with her son.

I hope Bridger if it is him, never has a moment's peace again, evil scumbag.
