Living in London most hospitals have very limited parking spaces. And some are very expensive. And because space is limited some of the spaces are not wide enough to get out of the car once parked!!!!

it can often work out cheaper to get a cab there and back.

As a hospital shift worker, my daughter has been 'clamped' 3 times in the hospital car park, as she:
a) couldn't find a staff parking place free, so parked in a nearby side street
b) couldn't find a staff parking place free so parked in a pay place, but couldn't get out in time to put more money in the meter (she works in the maternity unit - you can hardly ask a woman who's giving birth to 'hang on while I feed the meter')
c) had to go over the parking line slightly, because the car next to her had. the car went, which made daughter look like she'd taken up 2 places.

I have suggested in an e mail that maybe the money from parking could be put to providing transport for those referred to said hospital by their GP which could be cheap and would free up spaces for staff and visitors, and why should management be allowed to park, why can't they use park and ride too? :-|

"Not enough parking spaces"

The hospital where my wife works is the same, But bear in mind that when some hospitals where built car ownership was low compared to today.

That has resulted as is the case for my OH that all Nursing and other staff apart from management are not allowed to park at their place of work any more they have to use the park and ride facility in order to leave the parking spaces for patient and visitor parking

Not enough parking spaces, i spent 15 minutes just driving round in one looking for a space having got one of the tickets which starts charging as soon as you have bought it, and they hope we will like the new system, I think not. :-|
