Do you have clothes that you never wear?

Well,I am still wearing fifteen year old clothes but some that I knew I would never wear again, platform shoes that had become fragile and dresses that I knew I couldn't get into, went to a museum,Lost Content in Craven Arms.

So did a lot of seventies cosmetics I certainly won't be wearing now, like long black plastic false eyelashes(didn't we think we were it too?!).

Winkle pickers and flares 32" waist (now a little more than that). Still waiting for that fashion to come round again.

OH notices a lot of fashions do come round - shoes particularly (remember those clumpy platforms from about 1970).

I have ordered two new pairs of jeans from the discount leaflet because the ones I wear that are at least fifteen years old, have rotted the cotton on the zips.

I will get them repaired, there is still a few years of life left in them. They were bought as an offer I recall.

Thought it was time to indulge in some feminine fripperies!

I have three overcoats. Two of these I bought at an Evans outlet in Fleetwood in 1999 and the other at an Elvi sale a couple of years before.Because they are pretty basic coats they don't look out of fashion enough for me not to wear them.

Liz ................

My blood sugar went up last June, they call it pre-diabetes over here. I was given 3 months to get it down to "normal" by going on a diabetic diet ............. and if I "also lost weight, that would be good".

I did get it down into normal level, but they want me to stay on the diet ................ and that diet helped me lose the weight.

We went away for 3 weeks over Christmas, and I still managed to lose 3 lbs while having turkey dinners and some terrific meals on the trains. I didn't stint myself! Except for not having the lovely desserts ............... most of them were made with lots of cream and butter, and I can't eat any dairy at all.

I'm hoping more will come off when we get into "summer meals" ............. I've been in a bit of a holding pattern the last couple of months. Down 1 lb, up 1 lb, down 1 lb .............

But we do like our comfort foods ........... casseroles, stews, etc ....... when it is cold and miserable outside.

Snappy dresser eh?

Well done for losing so much weight Sylvia (if you were meaning to) hope you are enjoying getting into those clothes you had hung on to. I really wanted to lose some weight before my hols but I put on 6 lbs since Christmas and can't shake that off let alone lose any more. Hopefully I can walk off those lovely Greek dinners I will be eating soon and lose more weight when I get home again.

maggie ..............

it does indeed!!!

I've just done a quick calculation ..........................

that was about 60 ties ................. and he still had more in the closet that he hadn't worn :-D

Sylvia - that's wonderful!!

..does make you wonder about his lectures, though, if a student had the time to take a tally of his ties.......... :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Apr 2013 01:05

yes ....................

But I have lost almost 30 lbs since June last year, dropped 2 dress sizes ............... and can now wear some of the skirts and tops I had squirreled away

PLUS have got rid of tops that are now much too large to the church Thrift shop :-D

BUT ............. here's a MAN story ..............

OH has always collected ties ................. it was a sure gift for him for Christmas, plus birthdays if we ran out of ideas ............... new shirt and tie.

About 20 years ago, he was lecturing 3 times a week at uni, always wore a shirt and tie for that, AND he usually wore a different tie.

This particular year, the class went 2 terms from September through to early April

One of the male students started keeping track of OH 'sties.

It turned out that OH had worn a different tie for each lecture!

The students put up a poster behind the dais on the last day, to congratulate him!

He STILL has all the ties, plus additional new ones .............. but only rarely wears them now, although he does wear shirts every day.

He does have ties going all the way back to when he was in high school in the UK in the 1950s

Thye'll come back into fashion ........ some time :-D :-D :-D

Scozz, I am the same, too much stuff that no longer fits but as I am trying to lose weight I will hang on to most of it till I get to a lower number.

Now it's coming up to the warmer weather and my hols (which will come first) I will wear more of my selection of summer flip flops and sandals but in winter I live in boots, mostly my tall black ones and sometimes the brown leather ones or the snow boots if the weather is bad.

I am glad your daughter is working through the clothes she has GL, maybe it will at least stop her spending on more things for a while.

lol

My wardrobe has loads of things I don't wear......... I keep telling myself I'll lose those extra kilos and get into them "one of these days".

I've altered a few things to fit me, but I should have a massive clear out.

:-D

My 20yr old daughter doesn't own a pair of trousers or jeans.
She wears only dresses or skirts. Her sister asked her why she wore the same 5 or 6 outfits all the time when she had a wardrobe crammed with stuff.
Sister set her a challenge which she decided to accept.
'Wear a different dress or skirt every day until you have exhausted your supply'.

Today is day 17 of the challenge, and thinks she will probably have enough fresh dresses to last at least another 4-5weeks, before... moving on to the skirts!

I wish my wardrobe was as good!

EDIT:
I forgot.
She owns 2 pairs of shoes but rarely ever wears them either
All outfits are worn with longer Length Doc Marten Boots.
Grey ones,Black ones or her favourite (well worn) Green ones
